Stopped by the duct on the way home today. Right away I start getting hits on almost every cast. They would bump it and that's it. Finally one commits and it is on. This guys did not want to give up as I was battling it for quite a while. It would start coming in and turn and dive deep. I slowly worked him closer and would run and dive again, several times. By the time I landed it, both he and I were worked pretty good. Felt bigger than 10lb 13oz but that's what the scale said. It was as chunky as they come. It was bleeding pretty good and the extreme energy it exerted it would not have survived a release. I actually gave it to my dad.

I kept tossing for a little bit and was still getting lots of bumps but no more would commit. Not bad for a 20 minute quickie.

Saaweeeeeeeet!! Nice jailbird from the concrete river. I bet that fight was so fun in the moving water. I can only imagin those line peeling runs when he ran deep. NICE!!! Good job and nice pic's.

Thanks all. It was good to hook a DD after a few years being just under. Last DD I had was about 3 or 4 years ago in the duct. I lost one earlier in the week in a similar bite when my reel got jacked up after hooking one. It got stuck and would only wind on one side and messing with it, I lost the fish. New reel and revenge was mine today :) They were tapping the lure on almost every cast and several times on a retrieve. I'm just glad one decided to play.

WTG Yolo. What an awesome fish. I still have yet to catch a DD. Been so close so many times. Man that fight must have been awesome... I thought about going out last night, but went elsewhere instead.
Congrats....

deadroots, I was using a Rat L Trap.

thepuma, It's good to finally get back to a DD. It's been a few years for me from the duct. You should have gone out.

KPN, I was just lucky and was in the right place at the right time. Trust me. I have been skunked there too many times to remember. My neighbor went out to the same spot after I got home and showed him my fish and didn't get squat. They have moved on.

Yolo,
I just joking with you. I've been skunk at the Duct many times I can't remember . Stripers in the duct moving on according to water movement & weather.
There was day we get 4 fishs at one night and we come back the night after NADA!
I may hit the duct for a revenge , some time next week.
Congrats again.

Khanh aka KPN.

Anything from as still as a pond to a raging river. They control the speed of the currents with the gates. They don't publish the gate schedules, so you never know what the current will be like until you get there. Sundays and evenings they have the gates open quite often.

Sorry for the OFF TOPIC Yolo..... Your fish still kicks @$$!!!!
