Headed up to Jenks this weekend in the kayak to do some trolling. The action was great. Must have caught a good 20 fish on the troll, and another 10-15 while anchored. WFO all the way. Best weapon used was a Lucky craft Pointer 78 sp. They were all over that little jerkbait! Also got a chance to try the new Gulp trout worms in orange. VERY effective, but not too durable. Also stuck a few on a firetiger needlefish. Anyways, here are a few pics. Enjoy:

Also, the day before, my daughter and I went up to SAR so I could put here on her first trout. Well, mission successful. She caught two!

Miss that place a lot. How do you get your k down to the lake?

And, if you don't mind, what's a jerk bait ... who makes it?

I always had luck with TFisherman orange worms. How did the Gulps compare to the regular orange Pworms?

Wonderful to see you with the cutie ... and nice fish!

Great Report. I usually hit that place a couple times a month in my float tube. I would love to see that place get more of the big fish, but it is still an excellent lake.

I just carry my yak down to the water in a big duffel bag. It is inflatable, lol. All my gear together weighs about 50-60 pounds. As for the jerkbait, it is a Lucky Craft Pointer SP 78 in MS American shad. I was trolling the edges of weedbeds at about 1.4-1.6 mph. You kinda need a GPS to get it dialed in.

As for the gulp worms, they seriously are about 5 times better than the normal trout worms in fish-attracting power, plus they float real high off the bottom, so no need for a dropshot. Only problem is the material is soft and rips easily, so you only get a couple fish per worm before you have to rig it wacky or toss it. But they sure do catch trout. In fact, you do not have to add action to it at all. Just cast it out and leave it and you'll get bit!

Thanks, guys. She had fun when we went to the river. She has caught catfish before, but this was her first trout.

Fishslayer: Yep, the lot is open. $5 to park.

Deadroots: Yep. A LC Pointer SP 78 in MS American Shad. They really love the shine on the multi-scale lucky crafts.

Looks like those LC's pay for themselves in short order.
Nice work. Good to see the young one on the fish too.

Yeah, I decided to start buying higher quality gear this year, before the move to Alaska (where EVERYTHING is expensive, or else impossible to find, lol). I find the LC's to still be a bit pricy, but as long as I keep them on thick enough line, I got no worries. For instance, I was running 8 pound flouro with ten pound braid mainline for TROUT when I was trolling! But yeah, the action on the LC's is just SO much better than everything else out there. Even other Japanese lures in the same price range. Best jerkbaits out there, imo. If only I could afford more than like five at a time, lol.

Do they allow pontoons?

Sure. You can launch anything there that doesn't have a motor. This includes electric trolling motors too BTW.
