My husband has been talking about going to piru this spring. I've been hesistant because the water level has been down and i hate driving through the debris. This time, i was a little torn after having gone to upper lake castaic a few times with a decent one here and there. So, we headed down the 14 to the 5 and my husband asked me as we approached the 126, "Castaic or piru?". He does that everytime. This time i said, "Your pick this time."
So, there we arrived at the lake around 9 a.m.. It was windy. I can hear the kids allergies breaking out in the back seat as we drove up the mountain. My husband says to me, "If they're slow at castaic. It's always an easy catch at piru. And he was right! We caught 22 fish and every single one was a keeper. The big kicker was this...

Hey buzzbait what was working for you d/s ,any crankbait fish.

mostly crankbait, but watch out for the grass and twigs... they can make you lose your favorite one. I tried doing some d/s but it was just too boring. I tried a variety of lures and plastics... i'm a tackle junky!

We drove by Piru on our way to Ventura harbor on Saturday. It was really windy that day. It looks like the wind didn't affect your bite at all. Congrats on all of the fish. Thanks for sharing with everyone. BTW we did make it to Ventura harbor to float tube. Did manage to catch some Bass and Croakers using the Drop Shot. So DS wasn't boring for us.
