I'm targeting some white seabass in a couple of weeks. What kind of tackle should i bring? setup? As for my reel, I'm going to be using my avet mxl spooled with 30lb test. I was planning on buying a seeker black steel...whats your opinion on that rod

I fish a ss270H-8 for wsb or a seeker D8. As for tackle, white iron with a few squids pinned on is a good start. Or get different size egg sinkers and rig it the same way you would fin bait. I have also cought them with all different size lead heads with two or three squids pinned on just bouncing it of the bottom. Good luck.

2oz. banana lead heads and a glow in the dark Salas 6x Jr. type of jig with a Siwash/Single hook to pin squid on.

Can't go wrong with either Calstar or Seeker rods. If funds are a bit tight you might want to consider checking out some of the tackle store's used selection. You can find some really good rods and really cheap prices.

If you can check out Baja Fish Gear in Lomita, (310) 517-9897. They have a very large selection of used gear.

Calstar 850L with 20lb line and small leadhead
Calstar 800M with 40lb line and a white Tady 4/0.

This worked great yesterday, a buddy and I caught limits of cbass at Catalina, 10-12 lb fish

I like a shikari 909h for the lead head and squid
calstar 6480l for the slider sinker

Using slip sinkers is a great way to hook cbass, if you do, I would use circle hooks. If you deep hook a larger cbass it is very easy for the fish to chew through mono.

One of the main reasons so many people have not caught cbass is they don't the subtle difference between a blue perch bite and that of a 40 lb white cbass. The bite is almost the same and the most important advice I could give is you need to keep a tight line and pay attention.

On sunday me and my buddy got 9 cbass to bite hooked 7 kept two.

Remember, tight line!!!!!
