Hey all,

I was wondering, I have never fished piers during the Winter/Spring months and was wondering what could be caught towards the end of the pier, and on what. I would like to get out and try some Spring pier fishing, but do not know what is out there and what the proper bait for them is.

Thanks!

Most people fish for mackeral, smelt, rays, sharks and other large fish at the end of piers. I usually like to fish towards the shallower end of the pier close to the shoreline. There I usually catch a variety of perch and croakers casting out and underneath the pier using mussels and ghosties. Many people have the misconception that there's no fish at the shallow end, but sharks, rays and halibut can also be caught near the shore break. It really depends on what you want to fish for.
