Hello everyone,

Im looking to get a couple of answers on what a good basic starter set of hooks and weight I will need for BASIC BASS FISHING.

I am looking to mostly fish smaller Robo Worms, Zoom Trick Worms and other plastics ranging from 4 1/2 to 8 inch.

Drop Shot. (Maybe a size 6 Mosquito Hook? I know thats small!)
Texas Rig (???)
Split Shot (???)
Carolina Rig. (???)

All I would like are some opinions so when I go to the store I at least have a better idea on what I will need!!

THANKS!!!

maybe size four for the mosquito hooks (nose hook dropshot worms). for t rigging i like 3/0 gamakatsu EWG hooks and 1/4 to 3/8 oz bullet sinkers. sounds like you got the worms figured out. 1/2 oz egg sinkers and some spro swivels for c-rig. go get em.

gamakatsu makes drop shot hooks.. but you can use mosquito hooks as well... i prefer size 2 or 4.

and i think lurk's answers i agree with...

Here's a rundown of what I have to have when I go out:

Sinkers:
1/16oz. bullet for Texas rigging rip rap.
1/8oz. bullet for general Texas rigging.
3/16oz. bullet if the wind makes it hard to feel 1/8oz.
1/4oz. bullet if I'm Texas rigging in water >12ft.
1/2oz. brass sinker for Carolina rigs.
3/0 round split shots (not the removable ones)
1/8-1/4oz. dropshot sinkers

Hooks:
Owner Mutu Light circle hooks size 4: dropshotting
1/0 Gamakatsu offset worm hooks: 4.5"-6" worms
3/0 Gamakatsu offset worm hooks: 7" worms
1/0 Gamakatsu EWG: Fat Ikas, 4" tubes, and Hula Grubs
2/0 Gamakatsu EWG: 4" senkos

I think 'rip rap' is the new style of rapping where it's done in a fast pace.

if you could pick one of the rocks up by yourself, its too small to be rip rap. its the stuff we build the dams out of.
