Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that gave of yourself today, for the special needs kids at our annual event. The weather cooperated, and the fish were paying attention as the Los Angeles Rod and Reel Club's Annual Special Needs Kids Derby went into the books as our best event ever!

Dana- cant thank you enough for the shirts you gave to all the kids. You helped make the day for the kids, and I am sure they will remember the sticky, slippery fish every time they wear their shirts, thanks!

Bones, Gary, Bigred, Hittson, Arthur, KPN, Rus88, Goordy,FINSMACKDOWN, rrawstron emilio, and everyone else that came and fished with the kids THANK YOU ALL!

I do not have to tell you that many a fish was caught, the kids were happy, and all left with multiple fish. I have fished with many of you, and to see you connect with the kids really made my day. These kids have a way of connecting with you on a different level, there is no pretense.

First and foremost, I would like to thank EACH & EVERY TEAM 57 member who has ever purchased a TEAM 57 t-shirt.

YOU guys made it possible for TEAM 57 to donate a free t-shirt to each and every child that was part of this wonderful event today.

Im not sure just how many shirts we gave out today, but I think it was around 60 ... maybe more?..... but, regardless, every child involved went home with a free TEAM 57 t-shirt!

Some of the kids even wore their shirts TODAY!

Thank you to all the members who showed up ........ you all deserve a VERY BIG thank you!

This is the second year that TEAM 57 has participated and again, I would like to thank the LARRC for allowing TEAM 57 to be part of this great event!

Thanks Wingnut for helping me hand out the shirts, you saved me again.

I think Arthur has a few pics from the day that hopefully he will add to this thread also...... it was a great day!

I wish I could have spent more time with the kids, its truly rewarding to everyone involved!

I encourage you all to come out next year!

"If you're not able to help a hundred people... help just one."

Scott, thank you for organizing such a wonderful event for the kids and giving us a chance to brighten their day... we are all richer because of it.

It was great to see so many FNN members coming out to donate their time and lend their help & support for the event.
You guys make me proud to be associated with such a generous group of individuals.

The heartwarming day through my eyes...

Thanks for the invite Scott and Yes.....I caught one fish for my little girl before bigred elbowed me out and took over. He had a real special connection with the kids. It was nice to see my estranged team 57 members that I havn't had the pleasure to fish with for quite a while. Good friends.....Good times......great kids!
These events really put things in perspective in life and teach you to never take anything for granted.

Thanks to Scott and the LARRC for the invite to the event!

What a Great Morning spent by all helping the kids!

I am looking forward to next year already.

Here are a few pics of the morning. I would have had more but the boy we were helping had the hot hand and kept us busy on the net with some very nice fish!!!

Wow.....what can be said to truly convey what went on this particular day..

Those kids have such big hearts its amazing, to be able to bring 1 minute of joy, let alone a day of great fishing is priceless.

Those smiles on their faces and the unbelievable joy they demonstrated while not only catching the fish but the whole fishing experience in itself will forever remain in my memory as one of the most rewarding days ever…

They say when you die that your life flashes b4 your eyes, I know those memories will be amongst the images I see when it comes for my time to pass.

I cannot say enough about these kids….again..just as before…I didn’t see 1 single child misbehave and every single one was full of laughter, joy and smiles..

They say a smile is contagious!!!!

Well, I believe it is true cause as you all know, I rarely smile in any pics…..take a look at any pic that I appear in….I’m smiling !!!

That says it all, The joy from within them is spread to all from deep inside their hearts..

I’m not afraid to say that I for one am a richer man for having them share this day with me and I thank the LARRC for allowing me to take part and give back.

I love the fact that the one child (Sergio) actually remembered me from last year and I made sure he knew when he left that we’d be back to help them again…

This is the true spirit of fishing manifesting itself in the purest fashion…
What a wonderful opportunity to give back to the sport that has been so good to me !

I salute each and every angler that gave of themselves and made those kids days.

I wish good things to these kids and all of the blessings in life !

I left feeling like I could walk on air with those memories as I’m sure the kids did as well !

Thanks again for the opportunity to help.

I do want to add something:
I know in my heart that God granted me some magic on both these ocassions when I've helped out there at Hansen, it's a gift that was given to me but not meant for me in the end...it was simply channeled through me...I am very thankfull to have been chosen as that messenger..

Sincerely,
Gary
