My neighbor and i took my 13 ft gregor down to J st for a shake down cruise. normally I fish a 19 kencraft but that wont fit in my toyhauler. conditions from 1100- to 1400 15- 20mph wind whitecaps and a very wet ride. probably would have called it a day sooner but the dinc fest kept us busy. 35 sbb's all on gulp shrimp while drifting really really fast. several zing pows on the 4lb one 13.5" the rest 6-11.5". fished the old free anchorage at 24th st and drifted acroos from the cays. gregors are good little boats but in little boats you get pounded in those conditions, so we called it a day at1400 and left the dincs biting. 4lb line 1/2 oz lead heads because of drift speed, moltinggulp shrimp3" ticking the eel grass at 3-5mph drift. later woody

i've got a 14.5 Klamath and rain gear is a necessity at Pyramid or Castaic a lot of days, even when the sun's out. i've found i stay drier if i ride wide open, no matter how dicey it looks, gotta get the boat up on plane. sometimes i can't even run a straight line cause i'd be taking em over the side, but i feel pretty safe with a bilge pump.
