Penny and I decided to try our hands/paws at the Duct last night (AV area). The conditions seemed almost perfect in my mind. The water flow was just right although it was still a bit cloudy. The water was clearing up from the high flows over the weekend, but it still had plenty of bushes and tumble weeds floating by. Never checked the temperature of the water as I forgot to bring my thermometer with me. The air/ambient temperature was really nice (around 69 Deg f) with very little wind.
Mentally I was totally prepared for at least two of those wolves that I know are just lurking down below the surface of the water. Hundreds of casts with swim baits, rattle traps and a few miles of hiking led to the big Skunk :Skunk:.

We fished from 5:00pm till 7:30pm.
It was nice to get out there and get some exercise on a very pleasant evening. We will get them next time. Just thought I would share the experience.

The weather has always been my biggest adversary at the duct. Sounds like you atleast did great on that front.

Any day spent with penny is a good day! I really hope someday my dog can be my fishing partner like that. Shes only 1.5 and still crazy! Here a pic of her:

is she named penny because of the brown spot on her back hip?

That is my dog Athena. Penny is an awsome little dog with longer hair. Much better behaved than my Athena.

That’s what I love about this board. So much support sometimes. Thanks for the encouragement on the Skunk. I planned on going out to the Duct last night but got distracted by that pesky private lake my wife works at again. This is a story for another time, but I hooked into a nice catfish on a Thomas buoyant spinner and 4lb test. Very surprised.

Bing, Athena is a beautiful dog! She is a German Shorthair right? She and Penny are almost the same age. Penny was a year old in January. What keeps Penny in line at the Aqueduct, is that she doesn’t really like the water. I bet Athena love the water. I had a friend who raised German Shorthairs for bird hunting. He chooses that type of dog over all others. I almost got one from him a few years back. I like the short hair on those dogs as we keep our dog in the house.
Thanks everyone.
Scott

BTW:::: You wouldn’t know that Penny doesn’t like water from this video.
