hit up the wedge with tshaffer today. we went straight to the end with squid and shrimp for bait. put the drop shots out far with squid and shrimp. after awhile of no results we decided to put them closer in to the rocks... imidiatly we were bombarded with bites. none of which we could hook. we switched to smaller hooks and bendo! lost the first few to the kelp but finaly landed this one.

we both switched over to the small hooks and began getting bit.
we had problems hooking them though. i few more like this and the ones to follow came latter.

the bite eventualy slowed. when i was just sitting there enjoying the sun i get a nice bite. i set it and on the way up i think its a bass. but as im looking for the fish i see a orange shape coming closer and closer :Censored:
i realize that it is indeed a garabaldi. i bring it up, unhook, and release it unharmed. i managed to snap a quick pic too.

Hey bryce. We had a nice day out there (despite the outrageous sunbun and resulting tanline). It was kinda slow, but nice.

Nice goin guys. I love how you can have a couple feet of line out and still get bit out there. But I hate when their bitin like crazy and you just cant seem to get the hook to set. Il try a variety of hooks each time I go out and it always seems to take a different hook to finally start stickin em. But mite just be me... Gona try a nite sesh down towards the end tonite. Hopefully some fatties will be lurkin close in.

Is that Cajun Red line you're using?

Matter of fact, yes, it was indeed Cajun Red line! I love it and it works well. Never been frayed, never been twisted.

Excellent Job!
I used to use Cajun line all the time. It's a little stiff, but great abrasion resistance!

ya, they do. i caught it on a 6'6'' ambasaduer rod with a black max lo- pro. on it with 8lb line i thought it was a bass until i saw the orange spot in the water moving closer.

Man that looks like fun. I think the garabaldi is the state fish (marine). What a beauitful fish. Make a nice aquarium animal.
Congrats on what looks like a really fun day!

WTG! Nice job on the multiple species :) I have yet to venture out that far on the Wedge jetty - it's a far hike! BTW: The orange fish are tastier than all the rest... uhhh what I meant was that I hear the orange ones are tastier...? :D :D :D
