Hello,

I decided to hit up the Bishop Area (3/20-3/22) with a friend of mine (Who has only fished once before). On the way up we stopped at Fossil Falls. It was my first time there, and I must say, it was a pretty cool area to walk around and stretch out the legs.

We fished the reservoir a had a wide open bite. My friend was using powerworms (all colors) and I used a Green Wooly Bugger on a 4wt fly rod. After the 9th fish was placed on the stringer, my buddy hooks up with a nice one......2.5 rainbow. (Remember, 2nd time fishing). After that, we switch to the barbless and released dozens more.

We also fished Warm Springs road and were rewarded with the same treatment. Had much success using the prince nymph, while my friend used the powerworms.

We left on the 22nd, which was good, since a decent sized storm blew in. Headed back down the 395, stopping at Manzanar and the Earthquake memorial in Lone Pine. (Being a history teacher, I needed the pictures for the class)

All in all, an excellent trip. I think my friend may find interest in this fishing thing.

Thanks for reading.

FYI
Once you have caught and kept your daily limit, you are done,. You cant continue to fish . even if you are intending to release.
How does a game wardon know you plan on releasing fish. What if you land a monster, are you going to put it back???
You need to stop one fish short of your limit if you intend to continue fishing.
Another thing. Each person is supposed to have their stringer. This way a game wardon can identify each person's catch. maybe you caught 8 and your buddy caught 1. You still have 9 fish. I never follow this law. I used a fish basket and we just throw them all in the basket

I guess I just taught the teacher a lesson. It is approved my the State Superindendent and is corralated with the state standards.

PS
Thanks for the report. Glad you got into some fish. And it never fails that the newbie always gets the biggest fish.

Thanks for the info.....I never really looked at it that way. You get a gold star and some extra credit.

How was the crowd on the river?? On one of the photos I see another guy fishing down river. I guess it gets more crowded by the day as it warms up..

Nice photos teach. I am also a teacher and always do a powerpoint presentation of recent fishing trips with my kids.

The dam was fairly crowded. Funny thing: when that guy came down next to us I started telling my friend how rude that is.........then we noticed that we forgot to bring a bottle opener, and the guy next to us had one. Therefore, he became our new best friend.

Teacher, teacher, teacher. The great outdoors are full of bottle openers. The edge of a rock and a stiff smash with the palm of your hand. Ever use a house key, cigarette lighter, pocket knife , pliers, The side of the cheap plastic bong (oops) that was Mike Phelps and I.
I hang with a crew of heavy drinker, I am reformed, we can always get the beer open. Not a good idea to have glass along the rocks. But an ice cold NewCastle is a nice treat.
There are some things that arent taught in math class.
I have a BA from CSUF and a Masters from the Great Outdoors.
(I am married to a teacher and passed the CBEST, but never got my teaching credential)
Nice fotos Mr. Teacher
