View Full Version : Santa Fe Derek: Anglers With Attitude 3/21

Santa Fe Eric
03-22-2009, 11:30 AM
What's up FNN!
This is Santa Fe Derek, I am Santa Fe Eric's alter ego!
Eric has been very busy this past year with responsibilities that he chose to take on. He doesn't feel sorry for himself because what he is doing, he believes will help others. However, he fights with me his alter ego because I want everyone to know that he is still down, can still fish, and write rhymes. Eric feels that everyone loves him anyways and that he doesn't have anything to prove.
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0955.jpg
I, Santa Fe Derek looked at his freshwater reports from the Pudd and Jess Ranch and noticed that people dodn't seem to know who he was anymore based on responses, or his reports just sucked. I believe that Eric has fallen off.
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0949.jpg
So I got up early while Eric was sleeping and took us to NPH way too early for Eric to know what I was doing. I invited Kev to come down later and join us. Please don't be mad at Eric. I, Derek want you all to know that we Santa Fe Eric/Derek had our best day of fsihing ever in the bay.
Fish Count for Santa Fe Eric/Derek
3 Sand Bass
4 Croaker
1 Sand Dab(I think)
6 Spotties

Fish Count for Kevthecatfishstudent:
3 Sand bass,
3 Spotties
5 Pancakes (21 incher 1 minute after he launched his float tube)

Here we go!
Did I fall Off?
Got you reading my reports,
Acting like the “Reply” button fell off!
Just because I took some time off
To focus my attention on some other responsibility,
Now I got you sitting back,
Reading my posts with your arms crossed,
Questioning Santa Fe’s ability
Wondering if it is still in me to catch fish,
Y’all be killin’ me!
As if I need to catch more fish,
I got a freezer full & some Salmon I got from Sam’s Club,
Santa Fe came a long way from getting punked by the skunk,
From riding my bike to Santa Fe Dam,
To lighting this message board up,
Alternating between Balboa Island and Jess Ranch,
And still droppin’ rhymes that leave readers in a trance,
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0963.jpg
Homey I’m Santa Fe,
I’m too blessed to be stressed,
I write reports when I can, I’m not trying to be the best-
Angler or writer, I’m neither Jordan or Tiger,
I just fish to have fun and to bask in the Lord’s Son,
Like Adam Jones said about being in the “Scrip Club”
“it ain’t no sin”
It ain’t no sin to spend all these hours on FNN,
Cuz like Pacman let it rain hard up in da club,
All my homies from FNN rain down the love!
Santa Fe is still down – no need to push or shove,
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0950.jpg
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0971.jpg

Now like my man Chick Hearn,
Let me give you a words eye view,
And let’s see if you can learn,
Homey keep it reel,
And I’ll tell you how I make my drag squeal,
Go ahead and I Spy this
Like my man Robert Culp,
Shrimp On leadheads,
And dropshot Jershads,
Both by Berkley Gulp,
Like the Dead-heads
love that Ben & Jerry- Cherry Garcia
These Bay Bass hit that Gulp and run,
Saying “Homey see ya”
Be Gentle when you drive the hook home with the rod,
Get them right in the cheeks like his cuz’n shot up A-Rod,
I’m just an Angler with an attitude,
I smack these croakers in the mouth,
Like Ravishing Rick Rude,
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0969.jpg

Speaking of Anglers with attitude,
Check out this dude,
Smacking them “flat boys”
While floating in his inner tube,
He’s real mobile and when he gets a Barn door,
He kicks back and lands ‘em on the shore,
This one fought hard like he was legal with the upper hand,
Kev checked his ID and saw he was only 21,
Kev told “I’ll see you next year when you a grown man!”
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0958.jpg
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0960.jpg

Santa Fe back on patrol,
In the bay we drift, we don’t troll,
This character tried to steal my bait,
Like he was out on parole,
I set the hook like you homey slow your roll,
That Abu Garcia drag brought him to the boat on cruise control
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0961.jpg
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0962.jpg

Lottie Dottie we like the Spotties,
They cause lots of trouble,
They don’t respect nobody,
The type of fish when on the line,
They thrash about the water
And make the fight tight,
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0966.jpg
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk176/Santafeeric/IMG_0965.jpg
So today, in this very Bay,
We say the best pound for pound fighters are here,
We swear,
You won’t find a better fight anywhere,
They jump your bait fo’ show,
They’ll chew your thumb off bro!
And if you didn’t know,
This was the spottie show!

Derek/Eric,

I am glad to see you got your rythem back both on the keybord and on the water!!!:Thumbs Up:

Congrats on the PB day in the Bay!!!!!!:Envious:

I got a message from a friend that the water was above the 60 mark!!!!! Time to get out as things are going to go off very quickly!:EyePop:

I can't Id your first pic but some sort of rare fish that washed down the channel from Irvine or the mountains above. Must have given quite a battle!!!

The flatfish has the markings of a Diamond Turbot but the ones I have caught in the harbors are usually very much darker!!

After chatting with you at the Vine in Jan, I am sure your time off was well spent helping out others!! You day in the bay is what comes to good people that give their time to help others!!!!

I will see down there in the harbor my friend!!!!! Hopefully soon!!!!!!

Fabulous and classic report done Big "E" style. Thoroughly enjoyed the read. Congrats on your best day in the harbor.

E is back I personally miss reading your reports. When I'm on the road and can only think about fishing I look to fish thur you. It's always a pleasure to fish with you dawg I learn a lot from you and appreciate you adding me to your post (maybe people will remember me through you.) Let me say that the fish god's know who to bless. When we mentioned that your personal record ever in fresh or salt was 11 fish, i knew you were gonna be blessed with more than that. That is the way to bring in you junior bay season. I'm gone say this proudly Everyone watch out for Eric this year is his he is going to kill the catfish, trout, butt, bluegill whatever he wants to. Eric is very knowledgable and is one of the best and most versitale fishing I know. As homble as he is I think we all need to respect his skills and I know yall do. God bless E and Can't wait til the next time.

TD! I always feel the love bro! I was just trying to be creative and try a different approach! I have never had so many friends before I joined FNN. IN fact, outside of work and Church I pretty much used to keep to myself. FNN has opened my life up to a great group of wonderful people.

The flatfish looks like a turbot. Thanks for the report um Santa Fe Derek

That's right Santa Fe Derek is the one with the bad attitude. Eric is just a kind hearted good ole boy who would never even ruffle a feather .
Thanks Bro!

Yes indeed! My time was well spent and I did miss the water, but my schedule is lightening up for a while and just in time. My fishfinder had the surface temp at 62 degrees.
I will definitely see you on the water my friend. Everytime I saw a boat that sort of looked like yours I was looking to see if it was you!

Was that a sand dab that you caught?

I really don't know what it was. That's what I love about the bay, you never really know what is going to come to the surface. BTW a big Rotweiller bubbled to the surface as I was getting this one in the boat! Those suckers are no joke!

Yes Sir Mr. Wingnut! I appreciate the feedback. I was only bragging for attitude and affect. But still, I can always learn a lesson in humility from you. You are a great angler and set the mark high, but you are an even better person than an angler...that is big my friend!

How is it that the bes two all around fisherman I know respond in my post back to back? Never mind the fact that you didn't get on the water until after about noon, and you still almost had a higher fish count than me. :ROFL:Don't be puttin extra's on it. I only fish NPH and Jess Ranch with moderate success and I suck fishing anywhere else:Embarrassed:

Very entertaining report! Nice job.

Thanks T! I love entertaining just as much as fishing!

Awesome job man. Newport has been on fire as of late. Thanks for the cool report.

One day I hope to get out there in the great deep blue sea and get the big boys like you do!

thats a cool *** report man! 1 of a kind
Much appreciated! I was just trying to be original. Tight lines my friend.

Fun report and good pic's. Look forward to more of your reports.
Thank you! I've been trying to learn jigging all year and still suck at it. Thanks for the props!

Oh yeah! I forgot about that hat! It was the only thing that I caught on the Jerkshad! It fought prety hard on 6# test. Next time I might have to go with 10# test just in case there are any more hats in the harbor:ROFL:

Gary, did you forget that I was a professional hand model in the 80's. I'm trying to re-start my career and I don't need "bloody chewed up thumbs" stopping me from making it to the top of the hand model industry!:ROFL::ROFL:
