Got down to the Redondo Sportfishing office early, joined by fellow regulars Bill, Tom, Jerry, Chak, Ray, Carlos, Robert, and Vinnie. Got our tickets quick and headed down to get lined up. Our crew would consist of Capt. Stevo, Debo in the galley, Morgan on deck, and Long Range BobbyK helping out as well. Got some nice anchovies to top off some of the live squid we had, and we were off to the races.
We tried an area first that was very good for them last weekend, but the fish had lockjaw or something, so we moved on to a different area further north. We picked away at some rockfish on a couple more spots, and then, we got into the boccacio. They weren't huge, but they were of nice quality. During this bite, I only got a red, but I'm not complaining! This bite pitered out, so we continued to look.
Later in the day, we got into some more boccacio to round off our limits, as well as some more reds, a couple chuckleheads, and some boscos and belindas. I ended up with my limit of grouper, a couple reds, and some belindas and boscos, and it was a great day of fishing today. For 40 anglers, I think we got limits of grouper, and about 215 rockfish. I ended up winning jackpot with a big grouper. Great times, and great fishing!
