Great report, Captain Dick is one of the most easy going fish hounds I have ever Had the pleasure to meet on the water.

Hi basscatcher,

Thanks. Haven't been on a PB in a lot of years. Squared away skipper/angler and fishing buddy made 3 .... just right for the boat. Great guys to fish with Catalina or anywhere.

Hi Evilone,

Yes, he worked his tail off (as skippers always do) just to try to keep the boat in the fishy zone ... even though it was mostly an impossible feat.

Great time with two very skilled anglers and great guys to wet a line with for sure.

thanks,

JapanRon

Wow Ron. A PB report!! So unexpected. :)

Sorry about your skunk...(if you have to say "real fish", it's a skunk. lol)

What were you throwing?

Hi fishmaniac,

Thanks. I threw the kitchen sink !! fly ...er.... streamer-wise .... I was using a crazy-charlie micro-leadhead version which Bonito love !! Plastics wise I was doing all sorts of plastics swimmies and blams. Changed often as I kept losing them in the kelp as we drifted which ..... there is no worse scenario for a plastics angler. Got my Mackerel on a rainbow trout 3-3/4 inch blam.

About the only color I didn't use on the swimmies was the clear w/red metalflake w/red leadhead which Lal and Rich were catching fish on steadly. As I said to them ..... 'we know they are biting that color combo .... let's see what other colors they might want' !!

Nice change of platform for you Ron. I was wondering if you got the corner rail position you call " home sweet home"?

Must have been nice getting to the island in about an hour!!

You are pretty stubborn about fishing with plastics only!!!!!!! Good job.

Nice report as always. Sorry about it being so slow, but you'll get them next time.

Hi deanhall32,

On a private boat ... as I'm a newbie and I wanted to stay out of the way ... I opted for the bow. Does that mean I got the front corner ? :) When I go on my club charters, there are so many incompetents that I escape to the bow and do not even attempt to fish the stern .... let alone the corners !!

Boy do I have a lot of iron to get rid of next swap meet !!

Hi pokerface12,

Thanks. I done with worrying too much about catching a bunch of fish. If it happens it happens. Fishing the way I do ...... a skunk is often quite possible on 'real' fish ! ;)
