Photobucket seems to be down for me at the moment so I'm crossing my fingers that this works with imageshack.
Been a few since I've been in my tube so decided to go check out one of my favorite bassin spots. Patched up my Caddis last week so decided to see how my patch job worked out. Just got my health insurance finally and have some doctor appointments. Got a quick fix today to hold me over for a while, while I take care of those.
Set the alarm for 5am, but shut it off and slept in until 9. Got to the water about 10am a little on the sleepy side. Water felt a little cool in the morning. There were some clouds and a breeze about. I brought two reaction baits for my 12lb medium 6' baitcaster. A DT-10 Rap and a spinnerbait. I could tell my spinnerbait wasn't gonna go deep or slow enough with the willow blades. Tied on the DT-10 and kicked across the way.
I used the DT-10 to judge my depth. started heading shallow until my bait hit the bottom. Then backed off a few feet and casted out into the open, up the incline where I found the drop off.
Crank, crank, crank Eeeert! ziiip! Splash!

Since I now found where some fish were to be holding, I stuck it there for 5 more mins on the crankbait. Nothing. Decided I would come back here later and kept moving. Run and gunned a bunch of water for 3 hours with the crankbait and dragging a mini-jig for nada. Came back to the good spot. Fish were holding an estimated 10-15-18 feet today. Everyhing I caught came from those depths. Seems a bit early still.
Felt around with my crankbait upon return to the spot. Nothing active on that but still breezy and I knew they were home. Use a Socal Bassman afternoon snack trick with a short *** tag and scratched another fat bally fighter. They all looked pretty plump today and gave me a run for it!

I only brought two "12lb baits". I was positive one would work.
Here there are being put away for the day so they don't pop my tube on the way in.

One the kick back in, the normal baits with an unusual presentation surprisingly brought me two more out of the blue

Last one out of nowhere, but still in the same depth range as the other spot! Takin' notes.

Released to get big and pull drag next time

That's pretty much it from me. Haven't been ON the water in a while but sure has been a "dry winter" as far as bassin' from shore. Might be a while before I can get back out there again. Still looks like the action is on it's way! Have fun out there guys
Totals: 7 fish.. two super dinky skipped the pic.
Best 3 prolly went 8lbs together with those bellies.
