Striper Setup

I have a ? about what rod and reel to use when fishing for striper in the Delta. Sacramento area. I'll be shore fishing, just wanted to get some pointers. I'll be visiting my bro up in woodland,ca and wanted to know what set up to use from shore. I have a surf fishing outfit with a 2500 Shimano Sahara, Shimano Clarus 8'6 ML. Would that set up work? I kind of don't want to spend anymore money on a new fit if what I have is suitable.

6'.8" or 7.0' pole, use Izorline 15lb test, Abu Garcia casting reel

Use trout swimbait, top water plug, Lucky craft pointer lure
