It might be a stupid question, but I was wondering if I could use a boat sonar/ fishfinder as a portable unit. I just haven't found one that caugth my eyes, but the Lowrance 510c... I am planning to use it on the rental aluminium boats.

I think all i need is a power battery+ tranducer (sucking cup)... ist that all?

Thnx in advance

I have the hummingbird one .I forogot the model but it comes in a bag. Battery is in the lower back part of the bag and transducer on top with a suction cup. Works really good. Works good, i would recommend it.

Used to use them in that application all of the time. They used to have a suction cup mount you could buy that would plug into the graph.only concern is keeping the transducer perfectly straight down to get accurate readings.

Good luck.

yeah, i take mine off my boat when i go rental style. you just bring the screen and the transducer. mine didn't come with a suction cup transducer, only the one that permanently attaches to the transom. i had to make a rig where i can mount the transducer into a little cut i made in a 2x4 and then i use a C-clamp to make sure the 2x4 stays clipped to the transom.

I have a hummingbird 110. It takes AA and the transducer and moniter are one section. The mount that comes with it is kind of cheap but it works good and has a good amount of options for a $120 portable fish finder. Cool thing about it is you can use it on just about anything from a tube to a dock. The 110 is the base line model. The higher end models have side scan and other stuff
