Basically, my fishing club took it's first trip this past Sunday. The original plan was to only target perch (wanted to get these guys their first surf fish), but due to a mix up, one of my memebers brought his dad's custom Calstar 270-8 and Calcutta 700s instead. So I rigged that up with some shark stuff while we were at my house, put some perch chunks on it at the beach, and got a nice surprise! It was about 5'6" (on the tape) and we estimate it to be between 60 or 70lbs. It put up one heck of a fight! Enjoy the captions and pics. The best part of the trip would have to be that the pizza we ordered arrived right after the release.

In case you guys didn't realize it, I am the guy holding the shark. It was really sick to see that big shark in the waves, and what's great is that this convinced people that there are big fish to be caught in the waves.

No need to convince me...

That's an awesome fish... and great teamwork on landing it, congrats!

I betcha your next school fishing club outing will have many more participants.

Looks like a lot of fun in the surf Mark, how was the perch fishing?

With all those hats your crew is sportin, you sure you aren't pro-staff?

Keep the reports coming buddy, good seeing you Saturday!

Wingnut: I am betting we will too. The guy who tailed the shark writes for our school newspaper, so word will get out.

bones: I CPR all sharks and rays. It's more fun to watch something like that swim away as opposed to tossing it in the back of the truck for taco meat.

Perch fishing was wide open, a fish or hit on every cast with the fish crack. That's how we got our bait.

You know I'm not pro-staff man! I just got free hats because I mentioned I had a fishing club trip to the Phenix guys at the FHS.

It was fun running into you too, and I look forward to seeing you at an event sometime soon.

Man I wish my school had a fishing club. I honestly think I am the only fisherman at Orange Lutheran. I guess rich people don't like to fish!
