Found some good sand crab areas the other day,so figured
I would try for some Beans!!
Feet hit the sand about 6am. to see two pyramid Drop- Shotters
who fished for about 2-3 hours for nothing, then left!!!
Waves were about 2-3 feet, and I could not see any, and did
not catch any Beans!!!
Started throwing the Gulp since it seemed that the Dinks were
half biting the crabbies!!! Consequently, caught a few decent
Perch after that!!!
After a couple of hours of messing around with the Dinks,
figured To start throwing BH-63 since there was some good
trench structure!!!
Threw the BH for about an hour, and was getting micro weed
on almost every cast!!! Then through a shore breaker wave
I saw a real deep trench!!!
I figured, HOW!!! ? can there NOT!!! be something in that thing!!!
Threw that BH in there about four times, then OH,NO!!! I am snaged
onSet the drag lees tight so I would not
break off!!! Started pulling in the clump that I could see, and then
raised the tip to let it ride in with the wave then felt LIFE!!!
at the other end!!!
Watching the waves!!! don't yank it in!!! bigger waves coming!!!
Set the drag a little tighter!!! Keep the line tight!!! Wait!! Let the
wave push it in!!! Hold a tight line!!! It's on the trench lip,
Keep line taught, reeling it in on the wave!!!
It's on the sand,flopping around!!!
Pull it up farther!!! Shakes the BH off!!!
OH,NO !!! It starts flopping back towards the water!!!
TAIL GRAB IT !!!
Take it farther up on the dry sand,
AUHHHHH !!! GOOD- ONE !!!:Razz::Smile:

Nice SB butt there. Your flattie looks just like the biggest one for me yesterday in newport. Just nipping at the legal status. Thanks for the play by play. Felt like I WAS THERE and I've had a few of those floppers head right towards the surfline before too!
It puts you in a quick panic mode especially when the fish is around the legal size....LOL

Nice job identifying the deep trench and pulling her out of there......Thanks for the report!
