Here's my first official salt and tubing report.

Up at 5:00 and out the door with the float tube at 5:30 to meet up with Ritzy, Ritz Bitz and another member who ended up calling in sick.
I arrived at Cabrillo around 6:45 because of a quick stop at Home Depot for a couple of needed items. Bitz is already cutting the squid up and Ritzy is attaching tackle to the tubes.
I get out and start prepping and getting my tackle all together and doing the finishing touches for my launch. Ritzy heads down to the shore first and Bitz stayed back a few moments to make sure this old man doesn't need any help and is able to launch. :thumb: (This is a very good young man)
Bitz and myself launch about 15 min. after Ritzy and the three of us are on the water around 7:15.
Here's Bitz on his way out.

We finally catch up to Ritzy.
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07001.jpg
We're in the water for about 20 minutes and Ritz Bitz is the first to take care of that old skunk. :udaman:http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07005.jpg
Just 30 minutes later..... I :nutkick: that nasty skunk.
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07009.jpg
I catch my second croaker shorty again after Bitz has caught his second with Ritzy still floating with that skunk.

After a little "smack" talk Ritzy :slap: the skunk with a croaker and then a while later hooked up on this bass.....

Toward the end of our time 11:30, Ritzy hooked up on a shorty halibut but farmed it while trying to pull it up on the float. :farmer:
Here's the Father /Son combo doing what they do best....fish together.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07013.jpg
I did get to listen to a kayaking seminar for newbie kayakers as I was fishing nearby.
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07015.jpg
I did go out today on my son's Caddis Nav. IV to try out for him, so I took a pic of myself in it and my fins. (already sold it for a Nav. II)
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07016.jpg
We went over to the boat launch area to wash off our equipment, when all of a sudden we had a C-17 buzzing over our head. It even had Cabrillo Baywatch calling to find out why they were buzzing over Cabrillo.
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07018.jpg
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/trvcoach/CabrilloBeach4-14-07019.jpg

The three of us ended the day with a good ol' fashion grub out at the John's hot dog cart....fire dog, polish dog and a diet coke, couldn't get any better. (thanks Ritzy for lunch)
Overall it was a nice morning floating around Cabrillo.

Totals: all three of us caught 3 fish each.....all C&R
Bait: squid strips (Ritzy hooked the halibut on Glup squid)

I'm so hooked on tubing :!:

You guys were moving a little to much into the non-motorized area and we were starting to choke from the exhaust after you all started riding around near us  but it was all good when your group moved on.
You should've brought your pole and jet-ski fished.

I don't know (starlifter c-141?), but I do know for a fact having spent a good amount of time being tossed around in c-130s that that photo is no 130. 130s have props to begin with...

yep. the plane is a c-17 galaxy...

I'm like 95-97 % positive
1. Check out the angled down wings
2. The plant where they are manufactured is in Long Beach, its the last plane (commercial or military) that is manufactued in the state of California
3. Reserves flying em in to LB airport for maintenance
4. Its the only standard military aircraft that can always be seen at LB airport
5. Los Alamitos base's flight patterns don't take em over the water probablly due to close proximity to LB airport. Planes from LOS AL make the climb first, then turn.

The only reason we were neaer you was that all the other beaches near the ramp were closed and the lifeguard said we can not use them due to the construction ..We allways stay away from people fishing when riding because most of us fish also.We just tried to use that tiny piece of beach for a few pics then get out of there

Nice report, even if it wasn't in the right section, I thought you were a private lake kinda guy, Tony! j/k

Where does the trolling motor go on one of those float tube thingys?

Sorry I was so late to make a post. I needed some beauty rest.

Nice to see Ritzy and Bitz and of course, Catchthattrout taming the tidal waves. beauty rest.

Aren't you supposed to keep your life vest buckled at all times?

Congratulations on killing your skunk! Maybe just reading your post will give me good luck. 3rd skunk in a row. :(

I fish the pier at cabrillo and got scared when I caught a mutated white croker with a double fin. Maybe I'll go back sometime.

Had fun on the last Grunion run too!
