I'd prefer Gamakatsu. What store in LA would have a good assortment of these?

I've been to Sport Chalet, Big 5, Turners, and Purefields and none of them have a great assortment of circle hooks.

What type of fish are you targeting? You can try YO'S TACKLE in Gardena, or BOB SANDS TACKLE in Van Nuys. Both carry an assortment of brands. Eagle Claw, Owner, Daichi, Gamagatsu. Hope this helps:Wink:

cool thanks for those

targeting catfish. need bigger circle hooks to hold bigger bait, but don't necessarily need them to be thick. the red gamakatsus seem to be the thickness i'm looking for.

I'm hoping for 3/0, 5/0, 8/0, and maybe even a 10/0 or 11/0 if they make one (for the river with live bluegills)

Gavin, Turners in Redondo Beach has some. Not sure if they have 'all' the selection you are looking for.

Recommend you call over there and talk to Jose. He has always seemed to know their fishing stock pretty well and he's a helpful guy.

i actually went to turners in redondo. they had circle hooks, but you're right, it just wasn't the selection i was looking. i think the biggest they had was 4/0 or something.

Did you check Sports Chalet down in Torrance near Bevmo and the Del Amo mall? I'd give them a call--sometimes they get ransacked and their stock looks like crap.

not the one in torrance, just the one in marina del rey. the MDR one only had up to size 4 i think, but they're always out of stuff. maybe i should check out the torrance one...

i headed out to fishing25. they had some circle hooks which worked out for me. only up to size 5 though. i still have to find somewhere with larger sizes. I think i just have to hit the road and head to Bass Pro Shops. they really need to build one closer to LA.

There great for Rock Fish. The way Circle hooks are made, Rock Fish hang on better pulling them up from far below. I use 3/0 -4/0 for strips of squid. I go down a size or two using sardines-Chovies.
What were you buying them for in this fishing season?

Btw, I fish local waters for Rock Fish.. South of the border or North charters you might want larger hooks.

i'm going for catfish. i usually use bigger pieces of bait so i need bigger hooks, but even 8 inch catfish have no trouble getting a 8/0 hook in their mouth. i'll be using 4/0 though. and some trebles for my dough/stink bait.

Oh I see. Yeah definitley bigger hooks for Catfish, hooking chunks of Mac.. Btw, there couple other tackle shops on the same area. Few blocks up north, Fishing Time and Cosmos Tackle. 1 block down another new shop.
