Dear IRS,

I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to pay taxes owed April 15, but all is not lost.

I have paid these taxes: accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, cigarette tax, corporate income tax, dog license tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gasoline tax, hunting license tax, fishing license tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, Medicare tax, city, school and county property tax (up 33 percent last 4 years), real estate tax, social security tax, road usage tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, state franchise tax, state unemployment tax, telephone federal excise tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle license registration tax, capitol gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and New Mexico sales tax, and many more that I can't recall but I have run out of space and money.

When you do not receive my check April 15, just know that it is an honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen Charles Rangle, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and ex-Congressman Tom Dashelle and, of course, your boss Timothy Geithner. No penalties and no interest.

Sincerely,

Ed Barnett
Wichita Falls

P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.

So true, so true.....unfortunately.

And now, thanks to TARP, my kid is assured to become a "beast of tax burden" for the rest of her working life....

On a more somber note, some of you may want to change your W-4s. The 2009 stimulus credit will adversely affect some lower income and higher income taxpayers.

BTW, where's my California refund? I shoulda gone exempt and paid them with an IOU.

The average American worker pays over 50% of their income in taxes when it's all said and done. I was raised to be a dedicated, patriotic worker and have been that since I was 13. At 51 I have decided to drop out. I'm moving to Southern Oregon where the tax climate is less destructive, raise a big garden and fish a whole lot more.
As a lower middle income person in California I owe more tax to the state which is due in three weeks, while my son is unemployed, living on my couch, his benefits ran out at three months and the state owes him for overpaid taxes. Yeah, you know it ,an IOU with no idea when it will be paid and no interest or penalty.
Threre's snow on the ground here this morning in Hat Creek and I'm thinking about going fishing and I haven't even bought my license yet.

My CPA informed me that the state has 45 days to pay up, or pay interest. For me, on day 34, the their website said that my refund has been approved and I would receive it within 10 business days.
