I was planning on heading down to Silverwood tommorow to see if I can find a few linesides. I don't feel like picking up any chovies, but I do have some fresh frozen squid. Anybody here ever tried it before?

some people use strips of squid for stripers at havasu, mead and the river. what they do is chum chunks of anchovies, then they put squid strips on a jig head and fish drop it down, the chum brings in the smaller fish, and the bigger ones eat the squid strips

I used to use squid all the time when I lived in the bay area. Just about everything up there would hit chovies would also take squid. I used to have 50+ fish days on schoolie stripers off the Antioch pier using squid. Too bad they were all under 18". In one day me and a friend C&R 120 schoolies in about 4 hours using squid. Squid also stays on the hook better then chovies. Catfish love squid too.
