I caught this beast a couple of weeks ago on a 1/2" Gulp sandcrab 8# line. 40.5 inches long. 30 minutes to land 20 min to revive for CPR.

now that's what i call an entrance. everyone's first post should have to be a report, like getting jumped into a gang. that fish is so lucky that you're the guy who caught him. a halibut that size that sees dry land will usually be seeing a plate. what bario were you fishing dbario?

Now that's a surf halibut, and also on 8lb test! 40in flatties are a once in a lifetime fish, so good job on letting it go. Hopefully this signals the start of a very good year in the surf for you.

Well....There goes my theory that big butts aren't looking for a tiny meal....LOL

Nice flattie........What area was that again:Secret:

Kudos on the CPR for sure. I love the toothy mouths on the big flatties. They almost look prehistoric!

In case no one has let you know, it is mandatory for first time surf fish reports to have excat locations of your fishing hole where that monster was caught. Sorry bro its just the rules here, so just PM me and I will let you slide this time.

LOL Great catch!!

Wow cool! I didn't even know halibut would go for sand crabs... let alone a huge one like that. On 8lb. that must have been fun. Were you fishing for halibut or was that a surprise?

Welcome to FNN
