first of all i look real goofy in these pics lol but when its cold and rainy. you gotta do anything to stay worm and dry.

well we got there at 7:20 am first ones in line. then at 7:30 there was already 3 cars behind us. we payed and drove to our favorite spot =]. lines in the water by 7:50. first we tried powerbait for trout with no luck. at around 8:30 we switched to the basic carp recipe my bro told me about. my rod was first to go bendo but did not set the hook. so at around 8:45 am im trowing a rooster tail and i just hear ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ i look and my rod is bent WAY down!!! fish taking out a bunch of line. so i go and get it and fight to fish for about 8 mins. finally my dad went to go ask the guys next to us if we can borrow there net because our net is one of the small trout nets it whould be impossible to fit the carp in it so my dad comes to the rescue with to net =] nice size carp. so after that one gets on the stringer i throw the line in again. a good 10 mins go by when my dads rod goes BENDO! i go and get it because my dads in the car kicking it lol. so the fish took out ALL the line SO that means one hard pull and its gone so i try to not let it go any further and all of a sudden it gets loose =[ but the good thing is the line didnt break. so we throw that 1 back in and a few mins later MY rod goes BENDO! as soon as i grab it it snaped  oh well still plenty of time for another one. i throw that line back in and i decided to go check on my dad so i leave my mom with the rods.as soom as i get back the same rod goes bendo and snap! i threw that line back in and about 5 mins later my other rods gets bent i set the hook and fight the fish for a good 7 mins. my mom asks for the net kindly and nets the fish =] same size fish as the first one. so we threw that line back in so about 20-30 mins later rod goes BENDO! like no other i run the fastest i chould to get it and set the hook FISH ON! the greatest fight of my life so far =] fish kept pulling line and it whouldint give up! the fight lasted a good 13-17 mins and it barely fit in the net =] biggest fish ive caught =] it weighed 14 pounds and 8 ounces so after i put it in the stringer we decide to give the guys next to us a carp =] since they were SUPER nice to us and let us use there net all the time =] so we gave them one of the first carp we caught. so after that we decided to leave. we got home happy and weighed the fish the smaller one weighed

smaller carp- 8lb 5oz

other smaller carp we gave away weighed approximetly also- 8lb 5oz

biggest carp [my pb]- 14lb 8oz

well we had fun and we will be going this sathurday for the derby =]

Nice, my carp bait is corn, and I'm pretty sure it's legal. I might hit the derby up if I don't have baseball practice or a game that day

Nice fish.

Corn is legal as long as you don't chum with it.

I'm pretty sure it is not legal, the problem lies within a trouts digestive system, they cannot digest corn and eessentially will die after ingesting it..

I do know it works very well for carp and trout alike.

I'll suggest trying a masa harina (they make tortillas out of this) and corn meal ....mix the 2 with water to create a dough...they love it...

I'm not 100% certain about the legality of the corn but I'm pretty sure...

Nice fat carp there...carp provide an awesome fight....just not good eating..

Nice catch !

Corn is legal... It's just the fact that when allot of people are using corn, they often are chuming with it. It's a common misconception, but I assure you it is 100% legal to use on a hook.

Awesome fish, you da man... Congrats !!!!!
Beats my PB Carp by 3 lb++...
My 11# almost kicked my buns and was one heck of a battle on 2# line and ultra light gear...

What I find hard to believe is there are about 5 comments on CORN as bait in here..... :Rolls Eyes:

Not one of those Knows for sure if its LEGAL???? :Rolls Eyes:
How in the hell do you go out and fish with bait that MAY be Illegal and could cost you $1000....

Dam, google Ca DFG regs and find out, might miss one post here to make sure.......

Corn is legal, ON THE HOOK.. specifically prohibited as chum, no chum is legal in our area of So Cal.... Regulations are by Regions...

Nice report, carp are fun to catch, I did it alot in Texas as a kid but we usually just chuck them back up on the shore. They eat the good fish's eggs. I'm with most everyone else on here; I wouldn't eat those nasty bottom suckers if you paid me. Not even the Turkey Buzzards would eat the carp carcasses we would leave on the shore!!!!!!

I have only caught one carp in my life by accident. I wouldn't eat one, but the fight sounds like allot of fun. Those are some nice fish! Thanks for the recipe Gary. Might have to give it a try someday when I am not catching anything else. Those fish look like the hate having a hook in their mouths like most other fish. Might be a really fun fight. I have seen some huge carp in a few local ponds.
