I have two shimano compres @ 8 ft a piece. They are considered to be in the light range, but they look and feel ultralite to me. These are excellent trout rods. They are in the $110-$120 range if I remember correctly. The phenixs mentioned above are also great rods. Seng's Symetre will be an excellent match to the rods I mentioned. The new stradic will also be a great match. Good luck!!!

I agree, either the new phenix trout rods or Kencor rods and Shimano reels!!!

I would go for the Kencore....that will still leave money in your pocket as most retail for about $119 give or take.

Lets us know what you end up buying....happy shopping!

Go with the Compre. Great rod for less than Kencor or Phenix and a lifetime
warranty can't be beat.

The Phenix and G.Loomis are a little bit out of your price range, but $ for $
you cannot beat the compres in just about any category. You can find
them at 95% of local tackle shops and Bass Pro shop. I would go to Longfin
because they have the compres and many other rods that you could test out
if you need to.

I got a St. Croix Triumph 5'6 with a 750 Semetrye Shimano and I love it. It is light with a lot of action, they all feel pretty big with it. I bought it last year from Bass Pro in Rancho and I think it was only $75 or $80. I use it from rivers and Lakes.
