Today met up with Art Hill. Great day. First boat out on the water and head to his "SECRET SPOT" . 3rd cast nailed on a jerk bait, solid 4.75 lber. Every spot Art took up we hooked up on a couple. Bagged 25 for the day. Great day for ****** weather conditions but Art still got us on some fish. He knows the lake like the back of his hand. Biggest today was caught by Kevin. I believe it was a 6.5 6.75. Nice healthy fish. Art thanks again for all your help and knowledge. Kevin, I will beat you next time with my good ole t-rig haha. Cant wait until we go out again!!

As Brett said, not a bad day on the water all things considered. We met up at 5:45a and headed to the lake(we thought it was JUNE  ). Temp gauge read 32 at the launch ramp- felt like we should be :Cold Fishing: back in the midwest. Brett hooked the 1st fish. If this fish got his grub on he would have been a solid 6lber

I got the :Skunk: off with this sunrise chunk

and quickly followed it up with this dink

We moved around to a few different spots during the day and ART put us on spots that held fish. He has this lake dialed in and can put you on the fish. No guarantee they will bite as we played :Farmer: quite a bit today. Mid morning I was able too land this solid 6.25 lber on a d/s Baby Rattle Snake made by Grande Bass(awesome bait) http://www.grandebass.com/gb93t/store/comersus_listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?idCategory= 50 .

The fish wanted the d/s today as we threw Carolina/Cranks/T rigs/Spinners but every fish but 1 came on the d/s. Brett got his biggest on a jerk bait. Water temps held steady between 53-54 all over the lake. It will take a few weeks of warmer weather before the fish start becoming more active. Again thanks ART for a great day on the water.

You are absolutely correct "basscatcher", there are "no secrets spots" on Vail Lake. Just some that produce better than others. That was the case yesterday. Well actually I do have one secret spot, it's called Goose Bay.

I would like to compliment both Kevin, and Brett for their angling skills, as both proved to be very good. It makes my job easier when you have someone who knows what their doing, and both of these guys knew what they were doing.

Yesterday the fishing was good for a cold February day. The bite actually got better with the increasing cloud cover. Had we not had to leave by 2:00, we would have had some great numbers. Both guys had dinner dates, so we were off the water early.

I would like to also take the time to thank Brett for his service to our country, as he is in the millitary, and to congratulate him and his wife on the quickly approaching birth of their first child. I would like to also thank each of them for choosing to fish with me. Thanks guys!

Respectfully,

Art

Very nicely put, Art. Thanks guys! It is a great country with all our freedoms. (Dad and Dad in law - retired military). Bass fishing just one on the many perks!

I have had the privledge to fish with quite a few of our active military men, and women, and it is always a special trip. I love the stories from the retired military, as they are pure intertainment. And remember, we don't need to wait for Veterans Day to thank them for their service.
