Well, before I post today's fishing trip, here's what was going on at Silverwood yesterday:

New docks.

Crazy wind.

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/steven92/Silverwood%20Lake%2002-13-09/P2130009.jpg

Water was very choppy and ocean-like.

Anyways, back to point. I got out to the lake around 8, paid my dues, and set up on the southern most lake on the east shore. When I was paying, I was told it was prize day at the lake, so that was pretty cool. I tossed some PB and I dropshotted an orange powerworm. I tried this for about an hour and a half with no bites at all. I then moved over to the north shore of the same lake. It was a good move. It didn't take more than a few casts for a hookup on the powerworm. BAM! Number 1 weighed in at 2.1lbs. While I worked the powerworm all day, the powerbait did nothing but sit. Not even a sniff on the powerbait. Around 11 I had my next hookup. The rainbow came in at 3.8lbs. Next fish, and last fish, came around 1130. The bite picked up and then went dead for the rest of the day.

Overall, I saw quite a few fish caught with some big ones. I ended with three and I won two free passes in the raffle!

It was glassy until 10 or so, then the wind would come and go.

My catch.

One last underwater picture. Water was pretty clear.

NIce pix Steve. Lipripper (Bob) was there yesterday as well and hand his only action on the worms as well. He ended up with 1 and 1 broke off. The quality of the fish is very nice though.

I have the Olympus Stylus 1030SW. It is perfect if you do diving because it is waterproof up to 33 ft. But, if you are just going to do fairly shallow pictures, they have the 1050 for a little cheaper than the 1030.

:EyePop: Crazy! I've heard that the bite is off the hook when it is really windy, but that kind of wind was just too much!

That was the trend I was noticing yesterday. It was quality over quantity (although there was one exception).

Oh yeah. She might cost a little bit, but the fishing is well worth it.

Steve, Yamafish and I missed you up at the lake yesterday! We were up on Lake 3 on GP and I believe you were on Lake 2. Wish we could have stayed for the raffle and met up with you. Theresa told us when we left at 9:30 that you were there. Congrats on your winnings! Hope to meet up with you there soon!

Maybe we can all plan a day for the regulars to meet up there, MVW, SFE, Roost, Mr Bendo, YF, and you. We could have a BBQ potluck, you know Yama grills some mean food!!

I'm in for that. If we all get there early we can get the whole logged shore for us. Let's set it up.

Steve, good job on the catch. Next time try logged shore on lake 3 and a split shot pink powerworm. When they see that wiggle by their face, they can't resist. Those were some cool under water pics too! Hopefully we can all meet up there and have a slayfest.

FISH ON!!!

I was at Jess Ranch on Saturday and had no luck at all. I saw lots of people doing ok, so I guess I was not offering the right bait/presentation. Saw a guy with orange power worms pulling them out wherever he stopped. Someting was cleaning off my corn flavored power bait without bumping the line...and I was watching fairly closely. I've rigged new leaders for next time. #18 hooks and 3 ft. of 2 lb. line for power bait. I'm also switching around my offering of the power worms. I'm puttin the sinker on the end and hanging the worm 3.5' up from there...just to change it up a bit. I'll try jumping that along for a while to see if it creates any interest.

I was up at Silverwood on Friday and fished the northeast cove from shore from about 7:30 to 1. It was snowing and raining lightly at times. Wind got crazy now and then. No action to report though. I have yet to catch fish in the rain in So. Cal. Same happened at DVL the weekend before. I'm going to turn into a fair weather fisherman real soon if that trend keeps up.

Nice report. The under water pics were really a nice twist. I'm down for that next trip if you guys plan it. I have never fished there before.

Try 1 foot leaders at Jess Ranch. All the bigger fish that I have caught on PB have been in the lower part of the lake.
