Decided after watching the weather on the morning news I was going to head out to SARL since it may be the only day this week with no rain. Got to the lake at about 930am and unfortunately somebody was fishing in my spot.....which would have been cool but he was taking up probably 50 feet of shoreline with 4 poles and all by himself! I slid in about 100 yards south of him and got my lines wet. I had a few nibbles but nothing for the first hour and then the guy in my spot picked up and followed the stocking truck to Chris' Pond. SWEET! Picked up my gear and moved on over just like last week.

Settled in the old familar spot pretty quick and got comfortable. I was getting a LOT of short bites but could never get there in time to set the hook. To make it worse, one pole would get tapped and I would be tending it and then the other pole would start to go off but still couldn't get a hook set. At about 12:30 I finally get a solid hook set and FISH ON! Decent fight in it, especially for a Lassie that was maybe 1.5#. With the skunk off and clean air around me I get the pole ready and cast out again. In the meantime, I notice that a group of guys started fishing the spot I had left earlier and they were starting to hook up the fish! again! Oh well, I beat the skunk and there is still plenty of time. At about 2, I pull one pole, re dip it in scent and send it out to a new spot. As I'm kneeling down to put on my bobber I can feel a fish taking the bait before it even hit the bottom. Yeah baby FISH ON again! This time I land the lightening trout that I came for so I'm a pretty happy camper. I also just had a call with the nephew and he's coming out to meet me for the evening session so I settle in for a long day at SARL.

After the second fish, I was still getting a lot of short bites and couldn't get a damn hook set. Got shut out for the next couple of hours but watched the guy next to me bring a 5-6# 10feet from shore only to have his line snap right before I was going to net him. The sun fell shortly after that and the temp DROPPED quick to make it a chilly night but good conditions to fish. I landed back to back fish at about 630 and added one more at about 730 or 8 and then the bite just shut down completely. I ended the double session with 5 fish, one lightening and 4 bows, not sure if any of them are tail walkers although a couple are 3+ lbs.

Beautiful day/evening at SARL. Small breeze at times but nothing that made a difference. Water was very clear considering the rain the last couple of days, probably in the high 50's and very glassy most of the day. Water was turned off at the bubble hole the hole day. The first two fish were caught on a power mouse with a green nitro crawler and pink nitro egg. The last 3 were caught on my usual glow in the dark nitro crawler with the pink nitro egg dipped in anise sauce. Light crowd for both day and evening and they stocked Chris Pond from the nets in the morning with about 500 lbs of trout.

I have pics but I'm hungry and thirsty and need to smoke something so they will have to wait  I may get back to it tonight but if not check back in the morning and I'll have them up for everyone!

Peace out...FDS

Think about it every time and then think about the fact that I'm usually a few beers under and that I've already lost fish that way and usually take the "dirty" fish pic instead. Now that I've actually figured out the photobucket thing I'll start including full size pics inside of those cheesy thumbnails!

Hey can you have camp fires at SARL? I will be going to the 24hour catfish special wondering if we can drinking on the shoreline with maybe a fire.

And do they sell beer at the lake?...if so is it cheaper to buy outside the lake.

yeah you can have fires, and im going to say that the beer is most likely cheaper outside the lake. would you buy food at disneyland or pack lunches for your family?

Thanks BoxLobster! SARL is my like fer shure  Anytime you want to hit up the evening session just let me know......or come and join us in March for the overnight!!

Redkorn........yes it's all good with the fire and beer at SARL. Bring your own wood and alcohol however Boxlobster is right......it will cost you a fortune to stock up on supplies at the lake.
