In 2003, when he won the American League home run title and the AL Most Valuable Player award as a shortstop for the Texas Rangers (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/teams/rangers), Alex Rodriguez (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/5275) tested positive for two anabolic steroids, four sources have independently told Sports Illustrated.

Remember the 60 Minutes Katie Couric interview with Alex?

"For the record, have you ever used steroids, human growth hormone or any other performance-enhancing substance?" Couric asked.

"No," Rodriguez replied.

Asked if he had ever been tempted to use any of those things, Rodriguez told Couric, "No."

It's not really all that shocking. Look at him when he started out with the Mariners compared to today.

Come on man he was 18/19 when he started with the Mariners, he is a full grown man now. I was surprised more that the testing info was not destroyed right away. I love the MLB channel.

Let me elaborate on my previous statement. He was smaller while playing for the Mariners, but he all of a sudden got huge in a short period of time once he got to the Rangers.

A-ROIDS!

I had heard that the drug testing was supposed to be anonymous, but somehow someone threw his name out.

You know, at the end of it all, the only person that was telling the truth was Jose Canseco and his books now look like a work of fact, rather than a work of fiction that people made them out to be. Remember the, "Oh, he's only trying to sell his books!" excuse?

Jose Canseco, a guest on WEEI's Big Show, today took a slap at Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez. Canseco, who in his book Juiced helped blow the lid off baseball's steroid scandal, says he plans another book, in which he will reveal that Rodriguez is "not who he says he is." Asked directly if he is stating that A-Rod used steroids, Canseco would not answer. He said people would have to read his book, then he went on to call Rodriguez a liar, adding "I can't stand liars."

Thats the only way he could handle this. He can go the Pettit route or the Clemens route.

That's a no-brainer imho. Then again this was supposed to be the messiah of "clean" players, the one that was going to take the tainted record back from Bondzilla. I honestly feel bad for the guy, he has devoted his life to this game and is going to be taunted and booed by the people he is trying to entertain. Yeah he should not have used steroids but competitive people always want the advantage, baseball players used to use a certain white powder back in the beginning of the 20th century because it helped them stay alert, should we asterisk all of baseball?

I hate the scandal hungry media.

It's a game, just a game.

I... I... have to come clean too.

You see, back in '06 I used performance-enhancing drugs when I was posting up my classic threads "Karate Class Flatulence," "Ha, ha, Look at those Guys Playing Paintball" and "Does Anyone Know How to Get Tilapia Blood out of Tweed?"

I am very sorry.
