It was a rough bumpy start but we managed to get out to the County line.
It started out a beautiful day with calm waters and little wind. We got our
wetsuit on and load our speargun. On the trip this time was cousin TommyC,
uncle Steven and pops (Vision246).
First spot was dead with little life but the weather was still great. Second spot
produced some bugs and a few crabs. Very easy hand grabs. I was surprised to
see so many bugs in shallow. I though they would have moved out deeper with
the storm coming in. We saw some big halibut but they saw us first and bolted.
The third spot was the best. We found a rock complex full of hub cap sized red
abalone. I was tempted but at $1K per animal and jail time if caught, it would
have been one expensive meal. There were big goats all over the rock pile.
We managed to take a few up to 20lb. Now we have all the fixens for this
weekends BBQ.
I guess it was time to go home because we got our limits of bugs, crabs and fish.
The weather was getting rough so we headed for Dodge. It was a rough ride home
I'm glad we made it back alive. Uncle Steven kept throwing up even after we
made it back to Marina Del Rey. That's ok, I still love him.
Sorry no pictures because the digi cam fell in the water.
