I saw a fish that looked exactly like that at Silverwood early last year. I thought it was a carp at first, but as it got closer, it didn't have the typical large scales like a carp.

a squaw it is! its a type of sucker fish, they are in the marinas in some sierra lakes!!! thats a huge one though!!! nice!!!

Looks like a squawfish. Not sure if its the same as the northern squawfish but theres a bounty on them in oregon. Those suckers tend to eat salmon eggs and fry so the oregon dfg put a bounty on them and pay for dead squawfish carcasses. Thats a pretty big one and i bet he could eat a few trout. Nice catch man.

These, and other fish, most likely work their way here as eggs, larvae etc. via the CA Water Project (Aqueduct). They are rarely thought to get so big though from what I understand. Some people do eat them. Weird catch.

Yes, I also caught one of those once at Silverwood and I had a fish biologist with me. It is a Blackfish which is actually in the minnow family! That's one heck of a minnow, ay? Mine was big like that also. They are very clumsy swimmers, I have seen a few swimming in the lake over the years.

That thar my frieend is an inbred red neeck fish. It hapens from time to time when brothers and sisters and cousins get intima...well you get the point. Dang critters pop out looking like a cross between a trout and a carp. LOL
