So a couple of months ago I participated in a SCSF Fish Off in Santa Monica. During the raffle I won a day out on the Big Drum with Captain Vince and First Mate Jscrib and another winner! After the other winner backed out, Paul came and joined this wrecking crew. I offered to bring supplies,

Two cases of beer for four people should be enough, don't you think. Okay fine well bring a small bottle of Jack as well.

So I showed up at 5:30am at Marina Del Ray and we loaded in.

We filled out bait tank!

And we were off heading out to Captain Vince's secret spots. And sure enough the bit was on. Vince hooked up first

I got this nice Sculpin. Vince said it was the biggest ever caught on the Big Drum!

There were some small guys.

The day took a tragic turn when we came upon Sponge Bob Squarepants' lifeless body floating face down.

But it didn't stop the bite.

We anchored up and caught some smaller fish, I got bit off once by a BIG fish. But only got this guy at that spot.

A big Ocean Sunfish circled the boat several times.

I got snapped off a total of 3 times by very big fish, this was extremely frustrating.

But we were still pulling in nice fish as the sun started going down.

On the run back in the bio luminescence in the water was crazy bright lighting up the night. This is a picture of the wake from the boat.

After a day where you lose track of the number fish, but knowing that it was well over a hundred fish day, you come back and are just exhausted.

Those are some great looking fish. Are you sure that Sponge Bob wasn't just snorkeling? I just saw him on TV this morning.

I thought this was funny... every time I see a report with your buddy (guy with Whale **** hat) he always reminds me of the guy (Wilson) from Tool Time

You never see his entire face because he is always standing behind something...in your friend's case, his face is always blocked by a fish or something else :)
