Howdy folks!

I was wondering...

I got three tackle bags, boxes, numerous weights, baits, plastics, lures, hooks, bobbers, flies, spools of line, pliers, tape measures, sauces, sprays, line clippers, reels, spools, rods, you name it...like 5k worth not counting my boat.

Whats the best farking way to keep it all nice and organized????!!!???

So what is it you guys do?

:D

Money isnt really an issue...I can purchase whatever you think I need to help me get with it. Having the stuff is helpful but FINDING it when you need it is even better ;)

get the plano boxes from walmart or bass pro. I use the regular plano ones (cheaper at walmart) to organize all weights in one box... all hoooks in another..

Bass pro has some really nice boxes that are specific for jigs, spinner baits etc.

and this has to be one of my favorites..

i even have a "C-rig" box, its small 4 compartment with baitholderhooks, beads, swivels, and egg sinkers.

I keep everything in the plano boxes all differetn sizes, and a few other things in other small containers. Put them all in milk crates or the 66 qt stackable containers. I put it all in the corner of the garage stacked nice and neat so the girlfriend doesn't b!tch about it:Angry:
I also keep a few empty plano boxes so the night before I hit the water I just take what I need with me.

I bought a metal shelf rack at target for around 50 bucks and then a whole bunch of them rubbermade storage containers. Line goes in one container, reels in the other, weights in the other, and so on and so forth. The bottom of the rack holds all my tackle bags.

I have a 'work bench' in my garage with drawers and a pegboard for tools. So in addition to storing lures in the plano boxes and away in drawers, I also hang the bigger weights and lures off the pegboard among my tools - I bought the pegboard metal clips/hangers for cheap at Big Lots if I recall. Any tool store should have them too. I also have a Shimano lure box to store all my irons - it's real handy. The pegboard option can work out really nicely though if you have a workbench or wall space.

OOPS! Didn't read your last post. For going out yeah I struggle with the same thing - I generally avoid anything I have to carry by hand, so I like the soft-sided bags that you can wear over your shoulder. For lighter fishing, I bought the Plano fanny pack belt - that's always handy to have around my waist. Otherwise, the best option would prob be one of those Albakore backpacks. I have yet to get one but it sure would be nice.

I use the largest of the BPS Tackle Bag Systems (Greenish One) and I love it. I swap out a few boxes depending on which species im after, but all in all a great system.

Big Red....LMAO...you're a tackle whore! My wife would've thrown all my stuff away if I had your organizational skills. I should show my wife this thread...she will now know that I ain't the only one crazy about tackle.

Koshaw...what I do is organize my tackle for the type or species of fish I am going after. I have seperate tackle bags and containers for bass, trout, panfish, surf, ninja missions, and salt. I just take what I need for the day or night. Basspro has all the tackle bags and containers you need. Walmart has the best pricing on the plastic containers. I would go with a soft tackle bag system. WFO, Albakore, and G-Loomis sell the best soft tackle bags on the market IMHO.

i think the best deal is to decide what size plano boxes you're going to use, cause the bag has to fit the boxes. divide your gear into the appropriate boxes (shallow cranks, jigs, jerkbaits). have some sort of shelving deal in the garage that will hold all your boxes. when you go fish, you'll know how many boxes you can get in your bag, and you grab the five (or whatever) boxes you think you'll fish that day. i have a separate worm binder for plastics and a shimano bag that will hold five boxes and has a couple extra pockets too for non-baits.

You can never have enough tackle boxes....I too get all my tackle boxes at the "W" they are cheaper and they have all sorts and sizes.I stick to the 3700 size boxes, I have 5 tackle bags that can hold 4 of these boxes all bags have extra pockets for tools , scent , line, etc.For the bags I have 2 loaded for bass,1 for striper,1 trout, 1 saltwater. I try and keep all boxes labeled ,and alike baits together (4 boxes of just roboworms) just to give you an idea.Crankbaits by depth, weights and hooks ...etc, you get the idea.I learned over the years
its easier if you know where to look and know what you brought you end up spending more time fishing than looking for stuff you thought you brought...thats just me though....one more tip its totally up to you, you can use a P-touch to label your boxes individual slots (especially for weights, and hook sizes)I hope that helps you out.BigRed thanks for bailing me out with your pictures bro I thought I had a lot of tackle to keep organized.

Big Red, Your Awesome !!!:Big Grin:

Chuck, I too use to lug 2 tackle boxes around for trout fishing. I decided there has to be a better way. I found a soft bag at Wall Mart for $ 19.99 and I just packed the min. of what I REALLY need in a day fishing. I also have a soft bag for my reels and I put extra stuff in that . So I have 2 small bags that hold all my trout tackle , plus 2 rod ( tubes ) to hold all my trout rods, fish basket, rod holders, chair, cooler. Man I need to down size again.:Wink:
