Once again my Dad and I ventured out to Irvine Lake. It was a calm, relaxing day out there with a little rain mixed in. Awesome Fishing Weather! It wasn’t cold, just a little wet.
We arrived at about 5:15am and I went up to the tackle shop to pick up some pink shad Powerworms. Saw Dr. Hook and Mitz at the lake in the early morning and throughout the day. Good seeing you guys out there. WTG on the fish you guys caught.
We also spoke with Patrick quite a bit throughout the day. Good seeing you again man!

Now on with the details!

My Dad and I decided to baitfish the buoy line in front of Trout Island. We got as close as we could, in line with the point and that is pretty much where we stayed all day.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa18/johnsfishing/Irvine%20Lake%201-23-09/2009IrvineLake1-23-09031.jpg

I landed the first 2 fish. Usually my Dad and I take turns but here is why this time was different.. The first fish we landed had tangled up another line that was still in the water. I saw the tangled line start moving so instinctively I grabbed that line, because we could not reel in. I knew there was a fish and continued letting the fish move... Seconds later I said Dad I have one on here! I slowly hand reeled this trout in, what a blast!!

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa18/johnsfishing/Irvine%20Lake%201-23-09/2009IrvineLake1-23-09007.jpg

We continued to have a steady bite but it was necessary to check, re-bait, and re-dip if we were not getting hits.

We were blown off our spot by some other boats so we had to reposition a few times throughout the day. We focused all of our rods towards shore in hopes of landing our limits for the day.

Here are some more pics!

Baits of choice included Night Crawlers, Berkley Powerworms, Berkley Gulp Eggs, and Berkley Powerbait.
Dip of choice would be Berkley Trout Dip.

We just about had the whole buoy line to ourselves the whole day. There were only a few boaters towards the end of the day that even swung by this area.

We finished the day landing our 10th fish as Patrick cruises by. He sees that we just had landed it and came over to chat! It’s always good seeing you man. Hopefully we get up to the Sierra's this season!

My Dad and I decided that we needed to put guides on our trailer to make it easier to load the boat.. It did help, but it visually helped me the most. We thought it would have helped keep the boat a little more center but we are still glad we added this.

Nice fish Jon and pops. You guys generally slay out there. Didnt disapoint again. The further toward the rear you put the guides, the more they will keep the boat centered. Also, trailer is a lil to deep. Kepp it a bit shallower and the boat will cozy up there just right and center. Great job.

Nice! Job...I want and will have. Hopefully this wed.

Patrick....is that the guy that is always spying on everyone. Im sorry, but that guy over does it. He actually looking at the close circuit tv watching in the store and check who gets limits. Then he comes with a fake smile. I know...hes doing his job. Its just annoys me how people could act so fake.

Just my opinion....dont be mad at me...Hes is probably your homies/friend.

Well, at least the stickers don't have transponders inside them, am I right :???:

John, you and your Pops are tearing them up out there. Congrats to you both.

It is only a matter of time before the two of you nail some DD fatties from the Vine.

I am looking forward to reading that report more than any other.

I frequent the Vine quite a bit and I have never seen Patirck just standing around the bait shop camera watching, you are entitled to your opinion but I don't think it is fair to paint the guy as a lazy camera watcher cause he works his butt off out there to make sure people aren't poaching "your" fish. Like you said "he's doing his job" ....I am willing to bet if you deal with the public at your job, you have your fake smile moments too.

Yup! True that....I actually do it all the time. It just one of those things that annoys me.

Hello Koontaj, I assure you that I am a verry happy person and my smile is real 95 % of the time.:Big Grin: If you know me or meet me you will soon see that nothing is fake with me. I am the real deal.

Next time your at the lake please say hello and introduce your self. I am there to help people catch fish also. All one has to do is ask me and I will help out . I even give out my own tackle and bait to anglers that I see are having problems catching fish or have no clue on how to fish the lake.

I tried to stay out of this one,but here's my 2 :My Two Cents:'s
Patrick is a very nice Guy. He does help everyone out who needs help. You haven't heard the story of the jam I was in on the Freeway and(true story)
He called (me)on the phone and got me to the lake, cause I was lost at 3am in the morning. I won't even try and explain that one to ya! He'll tell you what the trout is biting on that day or the day before. He does his job and it cracks me up(Not Cool Bro!!!) A joke between some of the T57 Members and Patrick. But overall he's the Good Guy. Talk to him, you'll see... Cindy:Big Smile:

Thank You Everyone for the comments! Much Appreciated.

as for the sticker.. We had put the sticker on before we left the truck so therefore we were wearing it, (just not visible). It was on our shirts, my shirt being a TEAM 57 shirt . After setting up in our location we put the windbreaker jackets over the top because it was raining, didnt even think about it after that..

Good Fishing to everyone at the Vine.
