Took the day off today and ended up taking the kids to play over at Eisenhower Park in Orange near where I live. I've driven by it almost everyday down Lincoln Ave. and have seen many people fishing it so I grabbed by gear (still set up from my trip to Carr Park in Huntington Beach yesterday) and threw it in the back of of our van.

Eisenhower is located on the corner of Tustin Ave. and Lincoln Ave. in Orange. Very nice park with a good sized lake. The lake is located on the south side of the park, while there are playgrounds and other facilities on the east and north side. There is also a stream that runs downhill from the north side of the park to the lake. One of the cleaner city park lakes I have come across, and I think it has to do with the pump system and stream.

Here is more info on the park from the City of Orange site

Checked online at the DFG plant site at href="http://www.dfg.ca.gov/fish/Hatcheries/FishPlanting/SouthCoast.asp and it is on the same plant schedule as Carr and Greer near my work. Last plant was in the week of 1/11. Took a look online to see if there were many posts on the park and there were a few.

Got to the park around 2:00pm and the kids wanted to play so we walked to the playground near where the stream starts. Like I said before the water is much cleaner than most of the other parks. Let the kids play for about an hour at the two playgrounds then went down to the lake.

Lots of ducks and other birds, and they follow asking for handouts. Four other people were fishing the lake, two on the east side of the lake throwing lures and two on the west side fishing catfish (had a mackerel for bait) and throwing lures as well. I decided to find a bench, had the wife a 2 year old, a 5 year old and a set of 10 month old twins with me, so we needed somewhere to set up shop. Ended up in the south west corner of the lake.

Casted out with orange trout powerbait, 4# test, #18 trebble hook, 1/2oz sinker and about 6" leader. Did not get much time in today, only about 30 minutes, let is soak for about 15 minutes then casted out again. Lots of vegetation run off, got caught up in a bunch of stuff when bringing it in. Kids wanted to get going so I packed it up.

Nice park to go to, lots of stuff for the kids and only down the street from the house. Will have to spend a little more time there in the future.

I've done 3 park lakes in less than a week, got skunked all 3 times but learning a lot. Just keep plugging away at it.
