That thing would be perfect to pick up a fly-lined anchovie and deposit it right next to a paddy. There's days during the summer when the finbait is so small you can't get it to flyline properly....you'd make a killing on the cattleboats!

I have an extra "channel" on board. Would work for snapping pictures, pan/tilt camera head or a "line dropper"..

They tow big American flags around the events with the larger ones.

Next thing I know you guys will be dropping Wingnuts's LC's off the continental shelf!

Dude thats so rad. I have no idea how you keep track of its orientation.

Have you ever been in or flown a real one?

I have been in a real one once, when I Was like 5-6 y/o.
Never flown a real one myself, but my mom has. I think she made it half way through getting her heli license or something. I have the pilot manual and know how they work and how to fly one if it ever came down to it.. but let me tell you, you don't want to be inside one of those things if there's a problem. Building and flying them RC, I know better than to get in one now

I sent Matt a picture on my cell the other day of a real single seat one person heli from the Ontario AMA convention last weekend. Maybe he still has it. I switched celly's since then.

I've been buying my parts from this guy for a while. He will usually cut me some slack when I am in a bind.. like now with our current economy. He ships in two days to socal. Tell him Casey sent you.
Modefo's Heli RC Helicopters, Upgrades, Parts,Electronics - Home (http://www.modefosheli.com/)

This is one of the lesser expensive ones you can buy that will perform this well. They go all the way up to very large in size, both electric and nitro fuel powered. You use a simulator on your computer with your remote control to learn to fly them before you fly the actual thing. Then get some advice from the experienced before you try to fly your model to make sure it is flight worthy, and maybe even help you give it the first few "trim flights".

If you get into it, you can send me a pm if you have questions. I've been doing it on and off the last 8 or so years. There's a heli to fit just about anyone's budget range if purchased with advice from the experienced.

P.S..
If you wanna see what a small electric heli can really do,
watch this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMN_FA80erE&eurl=http://runryder.com/helicopter/f88p1/&feature=player_embedded)
You probably won't know exactly what it even is your looking at. Some of those guys are crazy with it..

The last time I flew mine I only bled a lil' bit.

Seems to always end up whacking me in the leg.

You must use the simulator to gain the necessary "force" to fly.
Practice often grasshoppa! Then the rest of it is correctly setting up the helicopter (the hard part).
A good sim is worth a million times it's own weight in crash parts and new heli's.

I suggest this for those in need. It connects your computer to the remote you purchase. Even looks real.

I_Like_Big_Boats used to fly heli's until she hit her foot!

That would be ILBB behind the cam controls.

They actually sell kits for real helicopters for $10,000 that you build at home. You don't even need a license to fly it because it is under the 254 lb "experimental" aircraft limit.

Some of these nut jobs have their own heli that is basically a chair with a rotor and a tail boom  I would never have the cajones to build and fly my own one man heli, but it's doable and cheaper than most may think!

Would be sweet to zip on out to Harris Ranch for lunch off the 5fwy between LA and SF though..

That would be cool if you had you built your own personal heli. You could zip to and from work and skip all the traffic. hmm.....I'm stuck in at least 2 hours of traffic a day...something to think about.

TJ, Very cool hobby. Did you know there is a air feild for RC planes next to Irvine Lake? They are putting in a new runway very soon. You could fish and fly all in the same palce and time . How  is that? I think you have to be a club member though. I can find out the details for you if you like. Just let me know.

Thanks for the post.

I believe they are called "OCMA" Patrick.
I know the guy who runs the heli portion of their club. I heard the new heli area would be done for this weekend. They wanted me to come by but I think I just might go fishing instead and test out some other toys. :Secret:

Weather looks a bit crumby for electric rc heli's this weekend anyways.

That's a pretty cool heli TJ.

I bought one about two years ago and it only got 1 good flight before it crashed.
