I arrived at the inlet first thing in the morning. There was a huge boil i fired out the an original Zplug i had found at silverwood a couple of week back on my 12 foot setup with 20lb test,on my daiwa reel. As soon as i fired it out right by the current i hooked up right away. My pops was telling me "Not bad for a piece of wood you found". The first and second fish i hooked up in the boil were solid 7-8lb fish. My dad was hooking up on the Long A bombers. As soon as the boils came it went. Well i continued to fire my plug and i was getting knocked, but no hook up, but my dad did manage to land a 10lber on a pencil popper and then action slowed down.

Keeping our eyes peeled to the open water and the surrounding areas

As quick as i turn my head i seen a big single boil on the southend of the inlet by the fence that come down into the water. I ask my dad to motor the boat down there. I was always ready to fire my 12 footer standing infront by those cheap concrete anchors. I shot my lure right by the fence. On a slow steady retrieve i was anticipating on my big bite. Sure enough my rod loads up and i swing for the heaven. The battle felt like it lasted forever but as soon as i got it to the net my pops was very proud of me. He told me it was a 15lber as we loaded that fat mama on our cheap zebco spring scale. We measure that fish to 35.5 inches long.

We continued our day catching numerous schoolie fish in the 4-6lb range on pencil poppers, bombers, and my still favorite plug the old Zplug. We laugh, we ate, I cried when a striper stuck me in the leg with its back fin.
