Hey everyone it has been a little hectic some I am combining the final two days of the MLK derby into one sweet report. Both days saw a little tougher fishing than the first day due in fact too a)the sheer amount of people and a big high pressure that finally left the last day of the tournament.
On sunday 1/18 a couple of bruiser fish still managed to be landed mostly by the guys trolling lures or fishing away from the crowds. A lot of guys where having success trolling CD05 and CD07 Rapalas while the bait guys where having success fishing the powerbaits and nightcrawlers.
The big fish of the tournamnet was a absolutley beautiful 12.10 Rainbow taken by Greg "G-Money" Bennet fo Long Beach while trolling a CD07 in the Purple Transclecent color at Trout Island. Congrats goes out to G-Money on his catch.

Oscar Nare of Santa Ana took second in the event with his 8.12 Rainbow. Oscar was fishing from the West Shore with powerbait when he made the catch. Oscar also mentioned that he lost a stringer with a couple of fish the same size on it...

Monday tournament drew out pretty much the same as Mondays.. A battle to the end with a lot of heartbreaking stories of lost fish and missed opportunties. If you had a fish that was around the 2.0 mark you where in the running for the money. Topping the field was Chris Edwards of Tustin. Chris is a regular here during the week so his victory should come as no suprise. Here is Chris pictured with his tournament winning 8.10 Rainbow taken from the flats on a nightcrawler.

On a side note Chris had allready qualified for the MASTERS INVITATIONAL so that means a lucky angler will qualify in this one.
