I couldn't sleep last nite. All I kept thinking was about getting up early and heading out to practice on my new baitcast setup

....its a Kistler Magnesium ts 6'9 MGAPSMH MH with a fast tip ....paired up with the new Shimano Citica 200e. I just got it yesterday after its long awaited arrival. The reel was on back order since I ordered it ( 15 minutes before the New Year) hehe. I played with it for lil bit last nite. I love it. I tied on the new BBZ1 SS 4" SHAD in Dirty shad color. :EyePop: the action is sick !!!!! Even though I got skunked last nite I had high expectations and huge boost of confidence for the morning.
I walked out to my spot at the home lake , it was around 9:50 and it was already pretty warm. Its the middle of Jan. right??? Anyways the water was clear even after all these winds. I started off throwing the BBZ1.... on my third cast it gets smacked but nothing. I saw the big boil the fish made so I cast like 30 past it and sure enough BENDO!!!! :Fishing Catch:
it was on !!! First swimbait fish ever and first bass for 2009

That is a great looking setup. The colors match perfectly. Go and catch a bunch of fish on it. Try not to get any scratches on it.

for sure. It was a real rush , especially since its been quite slow on the bass bite. But time on equals rewards and I was past due

That is a sweet setup. Way to go on the BBZ fish. I have yet to catch something on that swimmy. How do you like that Magnesium TS? Been wanting to try that same rod for throwing spinnerbaits. That way, it'll free up my LTA for other lures. Thanks for the report and pics.

I love it!!! Super light and sensitive and all the backbone you need. The rod i have is the APSMH which is the "all the purpose special". Super versatile rod. On the blanks application specs. it says for : Senkos, Spinnerbaits, flukes, rattle traps, buzzbaits ..... covers pretty big spectrum if you need the specs to tell you what to use your rod for. I really don't go by what it says, but from the feel it can pretty much handle any bait you throw even the BBZ1 shad. I am really impressed with Kistler.......

so no stress on the rod throwing the BBZ? i'm a bit scared to throw stuff at the top end of the lure rating, maybe i'll buy a bbz to throw with the MH crucial

That bbz is only 7/8oz. No stress at all and I was chucking it across the lake. If you're going to throw the big bbz1 i'd go with an heavy or extra heavy on 25-30 lb line.

You can throw the baits on the high end of the rating no problem. The rod shouldn't break, it is more that it won't cast as far.
