Got to Bishop last Monday about 1100. Fished all week and the fishing was excellent. Weather was fantastic, cool and crisp in the morning and low 70's in the afternoon. Fished frrom Laws Bridge down to Collins Rd. Fish were biting on everything and most were decent sized fish. The river is flowing about 150 cfs.
DFG stocked with 1600 pounds of brooders on Thursday about noon at Laws, Line St. and Warm Springs. I was at Line St when they put in about 100 fish, many were in the 5-7 pound range.
It was crowded, Monday I didn't see anyone, Tuesday I saw one local fishermen, Wed, 2 other fishermen, Thursday 2 others and Friday a total of 7. Basically had the river to myself. My slowest day was Monday, caught 9 but only fished for about 3 hours, all the other 4 days I caught about 25-30 fish per day, and had about the same number of bites.
Cal Trans is doing a lot of work on 395 north of Independence and have completly torn up and closed the north bound lanes, so traffic is now 2 way on the new section of S/B lanes.
The only downside is I lost about 8 lures.
