Got up at 3:30 and headed to Long Beach to pick up my buddy Cruz and then off to LNL for a midweek day of fishing. Things did not look that good as the wind gusts were intense climbing the grade on the 73 towards La Paz road. We were in the #2 lane doing about 65 with nobody around thankfully when all of the sudden a tumbleweed the size of a tank appears in front of us out of nowhere. Prolly should just bowled right through it and pulled over had we had any issues, but my instant reaction was to swerve out of the way to avoid it. I was lucky enough to do so, but it sure got the adrenaline going and I no longer needed my cup of coffee. All I can say is don't speed while driving in the wind and keep both your hands on the wheel!

Got to the lake just shy of 5:30 and we were probably 30th in line and no wind! We were able to secure a prime spot on the lake eventhough we got there a little later than I had hoped. Not long after that Hitts, MvW and his adorable daughter come join us at the spot.

LiL MvW picking out the color of the day....dude your daughter was so well behaved I was in awe, you are an awesome Dad Tony.

Baited up with some various colored plastic/egg combos and got comfortable....that was short lived when my indicator got "jiggy with it" and it was game on for victim #1...yeah boy!!!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff008.jpg

I had the hot stick to start off and MvW did a great job of "skillfully" netting fish 2 and 3, I guess Hitts started getting tired of my act and sprung into action ready to set the hook ...in doing so I knew it was a nicer fish by the way it was pulling on his 15lb test

After a solid 4-5 minute battle Hitts has his new pb trout at 4lbs even..."wtg bro!"

Trust me when I sayTeam57 and FNN are well known and represented at LNL, each time I've been I have been asked about the shirt, extended a handshake and a smile. Tuesday was no exception as Gabriel from the Native Sun at LBSF (aka fishraider) was out with his Dad for a "peaceful" day of fishing
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff019.jpg

I wasn't going to post this, but fishraider gave me the thumbs up and hopefully this will clarify the events that transpired as I saw them unfold:

Tuesday was a very busy day after the recent Monday stocking and the place was pretty packed and certain areas come at a premium and you need to get there early...same way with the Vine when TroutIsland is cranking or how the BubbleHole used to be at Sarl...if you want "the spot" get there early and that is exactly what fishraider and his Dad did, in fact they took the spot I wanted . Just like everyone else they had their rods spaced about 5 feet from eachother, the pay lake guys know the drill on a crowded day. About an hour or so into the morning this guy(we will call him Richard) comes in between them and tries to squeeze his two rods into a spot where one was a stretch  At first I thought he was a late arriving friend, and they were merely making room for their buddy. Shortly thereafter I see "Richard" jawing with fishraider's Dad...I was like what is going on? Richard apprently was all over the place casting his gear and the continual line crossing led to some frayed nerves and rightfully so. All the sudden Richard gets loud and tries to pull rank and starts saying "I'm a regular here dude, I know "so and so" here at the lake!" after fishraider's Dad tried to reason with him saying how long they drove and how early they had to get up just to secure the spot Richard says "It ain't my fault you got to get up that early to get here"....at this point I was thinking Richard is drunk before 8am  So words were exchanged and things were finally diffused and everyone continued fishing...than all of a sudden Richard goes gangstah on fishraider and starts jawing with him? I thought fishraider was going to lay him out, but he was cool as a clam and did not even raise his voice. Not long after that Richard packs his stuff and finally moves on to a less crowded area like he should have in the first place. Come on if you are a "regular" than you know what common courtesy is Richard. Not 20 minutes later a police helicopter decends on LNL....approaching quickly behind us in the parking lot, 2 police cars and a motorcycle cop roll up on us  That made Hitts0n really nervous at first and he assumed the position  well apparently Richard goes so far as telling the cops fishraider pulled a knife on him...totally untrue I saw the whole thing.

Here is one for the album fishraider...you're famous bro!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff015.jpg

The worst part for the father and son team was the 45 minutes spent dealing with this BS was probably the best bite all day and there were lots of bendos going on...dudes were hooked up left and right while talking to the police about what happend  This story ends well....father and son go back to fishing and Richard gets booted from the lake, hopefully banned for lying to the cops and messing up two people's morning! I could tell fishraider was ready to cash in his chips for the day and really bothered....I told him to "claer the slate, start all over and enjoy the day with your Dad" I think he did just that and managed to slay a few trout in the process.

Fishraider with the last laugh on the bendo shot!

Here is the "unknown angler" one spot over with one of many fish caught around the area we were fishing
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff020.jpg

My boy Cruz waiting for his first fish...the fish bit very lightly and I know the guys were frustrated for missing so many bites
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff017.jpg

Granted we had one jerk that eventually got escorted form the lake, we fish around a great group of guys...the gentleman in blue is the Fountain Valley Football coach and he was ON FIRE...nice meeting you Roger. The best part was the Angel fan in red talking all sorts a trash on my Dodgers out of no where and as karma had it, he could not buy a bite...from that point forward everytime Roger hooked up I started calling for the "halo net boy, man wearing Dodger Blue is on again", that happend 3 times before my buddy the Angel fan got quiet :Secret:...all the guys on shore were having a good time joking around after all the drama. Thanks for everyone being good sports out there...you guys are all class acts and made the day very enjoyable. :Thumbs Up:

My buddy MvW....who I'm lucky to have as a fishing buddy and friend because of FNN.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff016.jpg

I don't recall this gentleman's name, but I told him he was going to be "Master Merlot" on FNN for catching grapes while reeling in his rig

This was the lady from SD mentioned in Hitts report that caught the 6lber on the fly...NICE!

Good times with friends and family

You know it was pretty good fishing when you see a picture like this of Hitts0n!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff027.jpg

It was a long time coming, but Cruz finally got slammed 15 minutes before heading out! Bendo shot:

The fruits of your labor...nice fish Cruiser!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff032.jpg

Hitts and MvW had to split a little before us and i got a text asking to grab the bag MvW let behind ....upon inspection of the bag I figured out why MvW got the skunk! NO BANANA UNION MEMBERS UNITE!!!!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/allsortsastuff036.jpg

Hitts finished with the big fish of the day and I got most fish honors with 4, although I had plenty of chances at my limit but couldn't seal the deal...oh well just another reason to visit "the other woman" again soon!

Trout Dog (Aaron)

Great report...such detail, it brought back the memories of an awesome day we enjoyed, with the exception of a little drama. We did have a great group of people fishing around us.

Certainly, the fish gods were with me that day...I think his intention was to keep the Angel Net Man busy for talking so much smack.

Thanks for all the pictures....I am certainly going to get on the "Merlot Man" aka "Bill" for his quality catch of grapes.

It was nice meeting you and hope your next fish is a lunker!

Regards,

Rot8 "Go Barons!"

Yeah, we had a guy pull a maglite on us at SARL yesterday after descending on our spot. One of my buddies (6'6) showed him who was in charge.

Too bad we got only 5 fish in 24 hours with some 20 rods in the water...
And i thought they were double-stocking....

That's one reason I try to fish pay lakes so often. Don't get me wrong, I do like pay lakes, but, for example, I was at Jess Ranch a few weeks ago and I had two bait poles setup no more than 5 feet apart. Some guy comes right in between them and starts throwing giant kastmasters on an upside down spinning rod.

But anyways, nice catch out there!

That's funny, sometimes people hold it that way to prevent hand fatigue when they are using their finger to create the action made when you use a line dancer on your rod. It is also routinely done by people that are fishing minijigs and Jerkits. Once they catch a fish most of them rotate the rod to reel in their fish. But to fish between two rods less than 5 feet apart is pretty damned rude!!! I would have asked him very politely to please move along and then I would have put on some huge bobbers and just casted my two lines across each other until he left. Sometimes you need to have a lil' fun messing with these sorts of people when you are at the lakes. That almost never happens to me though, because I usually place my chair between my rod holders and I am sitting right there when I play the bait and wait game, :Secret: which I find a lil' bit boring.

Actually, I am surprised that there aren't more incedents like the one that Troutdog described.
