ok guys well i just got a pm back from this guy who has a flat bottom jon boat, as soon as i get the pm with the location im going to go pick it up!! Any way what i was wondering was if any of you have done or have pix of it being done, conversion from jon boat to bass boat... I already have plans in my head but its nice to see them come together in pictures. What i was planning to do is get some square aluminum and build a frame in the boat so i have have casting decks,storage,ect i plan to remove the middle seat to make room to standing,walking, ice chest/live wells. Just wondering if there are any pix out there to help with this project...the aluminum frame for the deck will all be welded to the boat so i better measure twice and cut and weld once lol

thanks for any input you boat gurus have.. Oh and the baot is 14' long if that helps

Hey guys thanks for that website!! Its a wealth of info!.. That guys boat looks to be turning out good...ill read thru all 25 pages at my lunch break...i like how hes doin his supports...i just dont like the drilling of the haul to place bolts to hold the deck... I will defently be using aluminum square tubing and welding it to the boat so no screws come loose...damn i want that dude to pm me back about his location... I want to go pick it up asap lol

Matt, any idea what the beam on the boat will be? It will make a big difference on stability, especially when 1 or 2 anglers is standing.

Matt, did you ever get your boat?? Only bad thing about jon boats is that they will beat you up when the swells pick up. Other than that they are fairly stable as long as the boat has a wide beam. Took my 1242 jon out Sunday at Castaic and had lots of fun. Started to get windy and I decide to open up the 15 hp motor and see how fast we can go. The chop beat us up but especially my buddy who was sitting in the middle seat and was just getting hammered from the boat smacking the water. I was laughing my tail off, he would get about 6 inches of air on some really good waves!!
