Here is a good project. The idea is to put eyes on the back of a Bam-tail. If you try to glue them on, the glue dissolves the plastic. You need a needle, thread, small bottons, and some eye tape.

You begin by sewing buttons on each side of the bam-tail. Don't get too far back or the tail will break. I use the back end of the dorsal fin as a guide.

You simply attach the eyes to the buttons.

This modification will weaken the plastic so I only use them when the fishing is slow. The first time I used these I had made 4 lures and they were torn up on 4 casts, but I had 4 grumpy sand bass in the sack. It is very important to sew the buttons on in the thick part of the plastic. Another day 27 sand bass were caught with 18 fishermen on the City of Redondo. I used the kicked up Bam-tail with squid strips and caught 11 of them. Tight Lines, Smitty

Smitty,

I am completely impressed by the ingenuity of that. That actually would have many many applications. For those who fish the greenbacks, I think this would rock on a senko or ika. For us stripey guys, this is a great application for Big Hammers and Fish Traps and ways to repair my Rubber Trout swimbaits like LA Sliders.

Thanks man. One of the very best tips thats been on here! Cudos!

Good looking wham man..not to be a buzz kill, but when i personally fish those things, the tail gets ripped off after a fish or two....the old school whams were soooooo much better and stronger then these new ones they make today......anyhow, thanks for that.....

That's cool, waterpossum. (I fish Balboa and am currrently working on a way to make a curly-tail grub look more like pelican poop...)

Do you tie flies too?
