Check out Sony's new OLED (organic light emitting diode) televisions starting at $2,500(for the 11" model) The screen is only 3mm thick and powers up on 16VDC.

Great piece of tech that OLED. However, there are a couple of down sides besides the
$2500 price tag. The organic film in the screen doesn't last as long as standard LED or
Plasma. It will degrade faster. Another thing missing in the add is that the picture is not
HD. To its defense, OLED is new and will only get better in time.
