Was planning a trip up to balboa in the morning for some tilapia. But then I started thinking that Tilapia are a fish originally from Africa, so I doubt they can be caught as readily in the winter as they are in the summer. What is the experience of any of you guys? City dad? Anyone else that hits up Balboa regularly?

They usually like really warm water. They have die offs in the Salton Sea when they have big algae blooms or the temps get too cold. I have heard of people catching tilapia recently at Balboa, so I guess they can be had in the cold, but not nearly as well as in the summer. Not sure if I would try eating anything out of that place, though.
