Whats up everyone,

Here's my first post. My GF and her family decided to do some trout fishing the day after Christmas. We arrived at the lake 6:30AM and set up. And the temp was way colder than I was used to until the sun came up.

The majority of the fish liked short casts and were fairly close to shore in the beginning of the day. As the day progressed, most of the bites came from medium to deeper depths. The water was extremely clear. Fishing was very slow. We could only manage 1 fish per 1.5 hours.

However, I did manage to catch this 3lb 13oz on half an inflated crawler and orange PB combo. All the fish caught that day were very good quality. I didn't see anyfish under 2lbs.

GF's dad netted the fish nicely.

And here I am trying to untangle my weight from the net.

LOL thanks. I sure had a death grip on the fishes neck when I removing the hook. Now, I know to just grip it in the gills

The lake is really a cool little set up. The water level is VERY low and they are still planting. In addition, it only cost 5 bucks to fish.

Small world. Yeah, I remember seeing two boats fishing in front of us. We had a beach umbrella proctecting us from the wind. What techniques were producing for you?

I'm actually from Long Beach and some of my GF's fam live 2 minutes away from the lake. I'm definately going to head back there before seasons end.

Bradakas, I was pretty much using the usual baits. I caught them on nightcrawlers, power bait and the power worm. I pretty much tried different color power worms until i found what they were wanting. I had success on the chartruese(sp) color. I remember seeing you guys fishing over by that floating dock. I remember seeing the beach umbrella. There were a lot you guys fishing there. Anyway, now that i'm back in Escondido i usually go there every other week to relax and enjoy the scenery. This is my home lake. If you ever head this way send me a PM and i will meet up with you so we can fish together. Take care.

Nice trout-you straight murdered that thing! haha-that lake is right by my house. beutiful lake real mellow-great alternative to alot of the lakes that get overcrowded during trout season down here. it's actually a solid catfish lake in the summer and a real sleeper for largemouths (tough to fish but they have a good population) for future reference.
way ta go and tight lines,

Nice one. I have family that lives up at that resort. I was actually up there that weekend. I've been fishing there for 16 years. Sadly I haven't touched that lake since the personal watercraft ban. They're also keeping the water extremely low until they rebuild the dam after 2010...
