Decided to hit up prado this morning, we got there around 9:45am. Beautiful socal morning 48deg. with bluebird skys. It was the Grouch and Senor Rambones first slay for 09'. As soon as we got there we headed to the back by the aerators. As I miss my first couple bites the Grouch says "fish on " and it was on. Right away this thing was peeling drag and his pole was being put to the test. After a good 5 min battle Grouch landed a monster 8.12lb bow, signs of a good day ahead, and we weren't dissappointed.

Next we headed to our spot were the action was pretty much wide open for the next couple of hours. Once again the Grouch was on right away with another fattie at a solid 3lbs. Very next cast zzzzzzzzzzz again Grouch. He was on fire :Guns: and I was still trying to get on the board. No worries shortly enough I get slammed by a nice fatty that took off 2' into the air when I hooked it. I fought it for a good 3 to four minutes to have my hook spit right at my face about 2' from shore.
Next was Grouch with another monster it seemed but to our surprise it was MAD HOOKJAW BROWN 2.5 lbs but fought harder than the 8lber. I don't know what kind of trout this is but it was a golden brown compared to the other silver colored rainbows. Has a nice big jaw. I ended up with two more fatty bows to kill the 09' skunk. Final count Grouch 7 Rambone 2 . Nevertheless it was a great day!

Great job out there on the trout. Not to bust your bubble but the 'hookie' is indeed a rainbow. Congrats on the big fish and other quality bows.

nice job guys. i didnt think prado stocked fish that big. ya that one is definitly a rainbow just maybe in spawning colors or something? maybe from a different hatchery. either way definitly a nice catch and good day of fishing. thanks for the report.

Those are good size fish. Need to get back to Prado sometime this year. It's been a few years now. The trout are toads being put in that place now.

the ranger at the entrance said someone pulled a 13lb trout out of there about two weeks ago. The smaller trout are nice with full tails, bright colors, and full of fight. I'll take 2-3 lbers like that all day.
