View Full Version : Vine/Lagoon - 1/3/09 - Good Times

Headed out to the Vine, got there about 5:30. Headed in with the family at 6:00. Ended up at one of the spots left on trout Island near the auxillary rental dock. Hook two small fish right away. J-Sauce's GF Deanna reeled in her first fish ever. (see pik below). We sat it out for about 2 hours w/o a single other strike. Patrick (TM65) stopped by to say hello and said there was plenty of room at the lagoon if we wanted to take all the kids over. We decided to take him up on the offer.Fished as close to the running water as I could get, first cast with a power worm is fish on before I get it in the rod holder. It was just as wide open for the remainder of the day. I was handing out power worms, hooks, sliding sinkers, powers eggs and the such to all the surrounding families who werent catching. All three of them got there limits after the bait and set up switch. It was a phenominal day for the kids. My youngest Aiden and my oldest David both caught Brownies. Bothe were extrememly excited. My middle boy Orion caught a nice trout drop shotting a blue crappie jig tube. My wife is convinced I discriminate against Blue and was determined to catch one on blue. She got a few strikes, and Orion broke the blue skunk. I am one proud Dad. My boys caught em like champs. Trout Dogs daughter TDJr was hookin and reelin em in like a champ as well. She is practically family and I was very proud of her as well. The true joy was hangin with my buddies Trout Dog and TDjr, J-Sauce and his new lady Deanna, my beautiful wife and boys. We went out to trout island for lunch and met Dirty Girl and her phenom fishing son. For anyone who hasnt experienced it, Dirty Girl is one heck of a hostess and puts on a mean spread. Thanks again for feeding the Myers family. Hung with Omar, Timster, Mitz, Man Vs. Wild. I met Slocal and Shh77 for the first time as well. I cant say enough for the FNN crew and the Irvine staff. They always provide an excellent experience and are the best in the business. It was a day the kids are still talking about and am sure will not be forgotten. Thanks to everyone and I am sure Troutdog and Jsauce will fill in the blanks for me and add more photos. Here is the photo album..

I used the hook removal techniques on Jsauces hand to remove a trebel and it worked like a charm. (Once Jessie quit crying):Secret:

It's a very beautiful thing, when family and friends get together , fish and have fun. It's more beautiful when kids get excited when they catch a fish. Thanks for the report and pics.
I just found out my son's girlfriend is having a baby. When he or she gets old enough, and they allow me, we will be at the Lagoon also having fun catching fish. My 1st. Grandchild. Cindy:Big Grin:

It will all depend on how well the boat behaves after its extensive visit to the Mechanic. I hope to be at both. All of these trolling striper photos gets me going.

So now I know why you wanted me to post my pics Bing, shame on you for not posting a picture of Aiden's brownie! No worries I got you covered homie

Bing you did a great job on that report, but I figured I would throw in an extra :My Two Cents: as this was another great day at the lake. LiLTD and I were late comers to the lake, daughter up waaay past her bedtime the night before and having fished the previous day, a first light arrival was just not in the cards. Finally got to the lake somewhere shy of 9am, terrorized the Vine employees, bumped into JSauce with his gf Deanna(sp?) and then headed out to meet the BingBunch on the far side of the kids lagoon for some trout slaying.

As soon as we got to the lagoon BingJr could not keep more than one rod in the water without getting one of the kids on a fish....quite comical actually!

Binger even showed his son Orion how to dropshot the plastic and this is the result as teacher looks on as student goes bendo!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009039.jpg

Both browns and rainbows felt the cold steel of the BingerBunch....check out Aiden's 1st brown!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009036.jpg

Older bro David was not going to be outdone....nice brownie David!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009040.jpg

LiLTD got in on some bendo action as well...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009032.jpg

Thats my girl!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009034.jpg

Aiden was kind enough to let Lauren hold the net for the picture although he was official "net man"....what a gentleman!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009035.jpg

Lauren was not the only girl putting a hurt on the trout....JSauce's gf was killing it, especially on the dropshot. I am not just saying this for lip service, but Deeana is a fishing studette! She woulda had her limit earlier had JSauce not been in charge of securing the stringer...apparently he underestimated the sheer power of 2 half dead 1lbers with a string though their gills

Here is your new desktop at work JSauce!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009037.jpg

Here is another one for you to savor Jesse....I call this one "Size#18 Treble Hook of Terror" For a guy that takes left and right hooks to the grill, Jsauce looked a little scared when Binger asked him for some heavy line to do the "hook removal trick". Worked like a charm...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009038.jpg

If you do not know this trick, this youtube vid is well worth the time watching...this has been posted here on FNN before and thank you to the person who did so.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_zAuQ2bm9U&feature=related

The kids always have a great time together....no fighting(except wrestling), arguing or non-sense just good clean fun shared only by kids
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009041.jpg

Got a chance to chat with Timster aka Timmytillo as he stopped by the lagoon for a bit on his way home for the day, what a great guy. so after filling up a few stringers we took off our seperate ways...Jsauce apparently wanted his teddy bear at home after his traumatic experience and Binger went over to the fish cleaning station before meeting me over at TroutIsland to hang out with DirtyGirl, FishingBrat and 2Quickmotorwerks. Had a hot bite to eat as DG had some killer chilli and brats ready to go for everyone, thank you DG!!! We were later joined by FNN legends TM65, Granny and GrampaFish....missed seeing you guys out there Tammy!

The bite was a pick at best, but that was all the window DG needed to put another rod into action!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009042.jpg

We wrapped it up around 3:30 as the bite was slowing to a crawl and it was getting cold so we packed up the 4Runner and called it a day...LiLTD my personal photographer
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj285/troutdog_photobucket/Newyearsthruthe3rd2009043.jpg

Thanks for letting me jack your thread Binger....it was great spending time with you and your family, we will be talking soon I'm sure of it.

It was a pleasure fishing with scott, thefam, and TD. I had fun the whole day, i got to take out my newly GF fishing for the 1st time in her life, and she did pretty good by limiting out on drop shotting:LOL: Not bad for her 1st time eh?....lol.
I dont care what you say TD and Scott, that treble hook hurt like a mutha:LOL: I think what hurt the most is just having the THOUGHT of the barb traveling the opposite direction by someone yanking on it, scott had this evil smile on his face:Twisted: as if he was gonna enjoy seeing me squirm around. But once it actually happend it wasnt that bad. Cant wait for the 17th!.
