Well me and my dad decided to spend some time on the water New years day. We hit up Castaic and were able to get into some nice striper action. Below are a few pictures of some of the fish we caught. I ended up with 4 and my dad got 1. We lost at least 5 others. All fish were caught on one of my homemade swimbaits on the surface. No monsters caught today but these fish fought very hard for there size. We only saw 1 boil all day and metered most of the fish in 40 feet of water. They were coming from the deep to hit the surface lures. All the fish were released to be caught another day. Sorry guys, no blood in this report. LOL. Good luck out there.

Gary, We were there early but could not get anything going for about an hour or so. We had a couple fish wack our lures early but the first fish did not come on to the boat until about 8:15. We may be out there again tomorrow to try our luck. If you see me out there, say whats up and i will do the same.

I heard the action on the "gray box" lures are a little chunky, and that they plow a little. --just play'n.

Nice catch man!

That is funny as hell. I could not keep the fish off the gray box that day. =)

I normally keep a fish or two but the freezer is already full of fillets and I figured it may be good luck on New Years day to throw them back.
